E-mail: GarlandSong@aol.com Classification: Vignette Keyword: MSR Spoilers: TN1 Archive: Anywhere, just let me know. This is my absolutely first time giving this a shot and I have no beta reader - please be kind. I would love to end up on IdealistsHaven, Ephemeral, and Gossamer. Feedback: Yes! (And see above.) Disclaimer: I don't want to take the blame for the last season, so no, they're not mine. --- Dana Scully sat by the phone, waiting. It rang; she snatched it up quickly. "Hello?" Her heart raced. "Hey, Scully." She could have melted at the gentle, boyish voice. "God, Mulder, is it safe? Really?" She could hear his smile. "Yeah, it really is. We buried the last of them in an iron mine at 1 AM." "You should have called me then!" "I didn't want you to get the green gunk you like to wear all over your phone." He teased. She laughed and grew serious. "You're coming home?" "I'm coming home." "Hurry." She hung up, smiling softly. * She knew she shouldn't be nervous. What was there to be nervous about? It was Mulder, for God's sake! Get a grip, G-Woman! She breathed deeply, watching the runway, listening to the tell-tale sounds of a plane coming in for a landing. It crept closer into her view until she imagined that she could see Mulder's outline in a window. * He knew he shouldn't be nervous. What was there to be nervous about? Get a grip, Spooky! It was Scully, for Christ's sake! He wiggled uncomfortably in his seat, hating the distance that kept him from the airport where Scully waited. * A silent figure watched the pretty red head pace for a little while before firmly seating herself and waiting. He knew what she was waiting for and would make no move to stop this reunion. It was inevitable. He saw her stand as the plane landed. Saw her keep herself from moving forward with bare threads of restraint. He sank back into the shadows and disappeared. * Could the baggage possibly take any longer to unload? You'd think they'd let the people off first! Jesus! Scully blew out an impatient breath. It figured that this would have to be torture. * Mulder would have just as soon traveled with out baggage. In fact, he'd like baggage to be banned from planes that had people who had somewhere to be... someone to be there with. He watched the last bag be unloaded and steadied his beating, standing when instructed to and slowly leaving the plane. * Scully saw people getting off the plane. She saw lots of brown hair - it seemed like a damn sea of brown hair. She wished she could pick one figure out but soon she didn't have to. He was standing in front of her. * Mulder had actually been grateful for the long walkway leading into the airport. He definitely needed a moment. He wished they would set up a little coffee shop in that small hallway. No time for that - a flash of red and he forgot everything but the woman before him. * She saw him; he saw her. She thought she might be paralyzed but realized that the room was moving much too quickly for that. She was before him and able to study the contours and planes of his face. Without thinking, she threaded her arms around his waist and squeezed, feeling his arms closer around her. He pressed a kiss to her hair. For Mulder's part, he was just amazed at how quickly it had all happened. When her head tilted up and she kissed him, he ceased to care. A throat cleared behind them an they realized they were blocking the line, though they got some dumb grins in their direction from a few hopeless romantics. The currents of emotion were palpable. Scully took his hand and led him across the room. They stopped top ick up his bags and she smiled at the familiar territory. She couldn't remember reaching the car, just getting in and turning to him. "Hi," she smile at him, her nose and eyes wrinkling a bit. "Hi." He smile back, certain that he had a very dopey expression on his face. "You're home." She looked at him, gauging his reaction. "Yeah, I am." He leaned forward and the world fell away again." -End- Notes: Okay, so it isn't a great epic or even a great vignette, but I had a thought and I wanted to write it down and share it. Thanks for reading!
