"I met you here Phoebe, just like you asked me to, so let's get this over with." Phoebe stepped into the light, her hair glinting fiery auburn. "My my. We're awfully touchy aren't we." She reached up to finger a lock of his hair. Mulder twisted his head away from her and grabbed her wrist. "Don't." "Why not? I think that five years is enough time to have forgiven and forgotten. Don't you agree?" "No. Things have changed. I'm married now." "Yes." Phoebe looked disinterestedly at the wedding ring adorning one of Mulder's fingers. "So I see." "But that hasn't stopped you before, has it?" Phoebe raised her chin in defense. "That's over and done with now. It's in the past, he's gone." "That still doesn't make any difference. The fact is, I'm married now. I love my wife very much and that will never change." "Change is the only constant through out history Mulder." She stepped closer to him. "Don't you remember those nights, and days, so long ago? It could be like that again." Phoebe placed her hand on his collar. "Don't you remember how wonderful it was?" She placed her other hand behind his head and drew it closer to her own. Phoebe kissed him, as lightly and tenderly as she could, knowing anything more would frighten him. As they broke apart, Mulder wore a slight smile across his lips. "What?" Phoebe asked. "Nothing. Absolutely nothing." "What are you talking about Mulder?" "That's exactly what I felt just now. Nothing." Phoebe violently shoved herself away from him. "You're lying." "Go away Phoebe. All I want now is to be rid of you." Phoebe focused her gaze on his face in a determined glare. "You'll never be rid of me Mulder." She turned and began to walk away. "Phoebe!" She stopped dead in her tracks and slightly tilted her head. "What?" "Nothing, sorry." And she left. Mulder drove back to his happy, safe, household and forgot about Phoebe's deadly pull. He opened the door to see his lovely wife and baby girl asleep on the couch. And he spent the rest of the night convincing himself of that. What do you all think?
