Note: Author's note at the end. A Penny's Not Enough by Pokwoman "I'm going upstairs to follow up on a lead," Mulder spoke hastily as he pocketed his cell phone and straightened out his tie. "What kind of lead?" Scully replied. There was a slight edge to her voice as if she was enforcing a midnight curfew. "Sci-crime lab is analyzing a highly toxic and suspicious substance that was found at a murder scene. I thought it was worth checking out," Mulder responded and was out the door. "Remember we're due in Skinner's office in twenty minutes," Scully called after him. She sighed. Too many hours squirreled away in the basement. Too much time spent under fluorescent lighting drinking coffee sludge and sifting through a pile of expense reports. She rubbed her temples and closed her eyes wondering what kind of information Mulder would discover and where it would lead them. Scully didn't need any more alien brain sucking artifacts in her life. What she needed was something more mundane, something more typical... "...A kidnapping case," she thought closing her eyes. Scully was jarred away from this *nightmare* by the trill of the telephone. "Scully," she answered looking down to make sure her buttons were all done up. "I'll be right there." Scully entered A.D. Skinner's office and took her usual chair across from his desk. Skinner's assistant, Kim, informed her that the A.D. would be with her momentarily. Kim was always pleasant and professional. As Kim exited the office, Scully could not help admiring the tailored skirt she wore that hugged her hips, and those Via Spiga tee straps, they showcased a pair of slim ankles, shapely calves and.... ...She sat back and took a deep breath. "Good afternoon, Agent Scully." Walter Skinner's voice boomed, smacking her back into reality. "Good afternoon Sir," she answered hoping the flush on her face resembled atopic dermatitis. "I need to go over the discrepancies in this last report that you and Mulder filed," His tone was official, his demeanor stern and authoritative as he seated himself behind his desk. Skinner took a deep breath and started to read from her report. Scully tried to focus on the report but was distracted by the A.D.'s broad shoulders. Her thoughts drifted.... <....Skinner's shirt would magically unbutton itself, showing off his boldly sculpted pecs and abs. With a head full of silky shoulder length honey colored locks, parted on the left, long trimmed sideburns framing his face, she would recognize him as a dead ringer for a charcter from an episode of Xena. His eyes would glow like the beacons in a lighthouse. Scully's eyes would roam down over his torso and come to rest below the shiny buckle of his Italian leather belt. More visions of lighthouses popped into her head. With a grand motion he would sweep the neatly arranged desk set off his work space. Skinner would pick Scully up as if she were a child and lay her down on the desk. His luxurious hair would hang in her face, her olfactory nerves immersed in Paul Mitchell products. Skinner would tidily twist his hair up with a butterfly clip and his hungry mouth would feast on Scully's delicious canape of lips. She would shudder with terror, fighting him off, trying to remove herself from his grasp.... > "Agent Scully!" The A.D.'s voice sounded impatient. "Sorry sir," Scully mumbled. She straightened up in her chair. "How did you obtain the information on these individuals?" Skinner questioned. "Daniel Keltner. He works in GSD and has been very helpful to Mulder and me on more than one occasion." Scully's tone was even. Skinner grunted and continued to read from the report. Scully thought about Danny... <"Danny, I need a number and address for...." "Hey Dana, how've you been?" Danny's voice was slow and soothing." "I've been thinking about you. How nice it would be if you would actually come down to the office and visit me. I've been meaning to tell you how much I like that white blouse you wear so often... you know the one that has those pearly buttons that are round and hard and smooth. I'm hot for you Dana. I'm going to pin you against the mainframe and let my fingers find their way to all your classified areas. I'll take my lips and draw happy faces along your collar bone and down between your breasts and then I'll take the edge of your bra cup in my teeth and pull down releasing one of your pebble-hard nipples and....."> "Agent Scully are you feeling all right?" The A.D. said loudly. "Just fine," she answered with a croak. The door to the office opened and Kim showed Mulder in. "Sorry to be late," he greeted the A.D. and his partner in a courteous but hurried manner. "Agent Harrington in the lab thinks she might have some idea about this toxic substance of unknown origin," he shared eagerly. "Not now. We're discussing the discrepancies in the reports that you and Agent Scully filed." Skinner's tone was abrupt. Mulder sat down in the chair next to Scully. Scully spied her partner out of the corner of her eye while Skinner rambled on. She noticed Mulder's recently cut hair that she thought gave him a rather trendy appearance and his face was just showing signs of an afternoon shadow. His expensive gray gabardine suit was worn with ease. His pale blue dress shirt set off the abstract pattern in his dark tie. His body had filled out over the years, exchanging those boyish good looks with that of a handsome and mature man. His long tapered fingers draped casually over the armrests of the chair he sat in. His hands looked powerful and velvety. Scully noticed his gold and platinum watch with the black leather strap that spoke of unassuming elegance. She tried not to notice the effluvium that was distinctly his. No doubt about it. Mulder was a babe. Skinner continued reading their reports, Mulder occasionally interjecting comments. Scully's mind wandered as the voices in the room began to fade. "Scully! Are you okay?" Mulder's voice interrupted her pilgrimage to Lustville. "I'm fine, just feeling a little... warm," she murmured. She wondered if Mulder and Skinner could actually see the pheromone poncho that hung around her. The A.D. looked at Mulder and her through squinted eyes. He snapped the file closed, warned them about conflicting information and abruptly dismissed them. Mulder followed Scully out of the office and down the hall to the elevator. She pushed the down button and stood back on her heels with impatience. He looked down at her curiously. He saw her rosy cheeks and her mouth looked even poutier than usual. He really liked the blouse she wore. She looked at him innocently and wide-eyed. Had Mulder been able to observe the next moment, a moment measured by a blink, he would have seen a tiny bow drawn, then a miniature arrow soaring towards him piercing his heart and causing a vast array of emotions to radiate through him. In that one moment his curiosity gave way to enlightenment and he leaned down and whispered "A penny for your thoughts, Agent Scully?" end ***************** Author's note: This silly attempt at fan fiction is dedicated to Dasha K. She is the Emperess of Commas and I can't thank her enough. In tribute to her kindness, here are some cookies for all! Dasha's Smut Wafers 2 ounces unsweetened Scully 1 cup DAL 1/4 pound Mulder 2/3 cup intrigue 1 cup slinky black nightie 1/4 tsp. soft music 2 pair willing lips 1/4 tsp. low lighting Preheat oven to 350 degrees (pretty hot) and grease some cookie sheets well. Melt scully in a bowl with slinky black nightie and spread out evenly. Add slightly hardened Mulder to Scully, and watch out for the steam, it may burn. Add the lips, DAL and intrigue, making sure to blend well. Mix in the soft music and low lighting, mix well. (Note: if you are so inclined, you can add a dash of satin sheets for some extra tang.) Arrange by teaspoonfuls on the cookie sheet and bake for 10 - 12 minutes or until firm, chewy and delectable. Makes about 50 cookies. Store in airtight container next to PC. Good pick-me-up-off-the-floor treats. Really tasty, and even though I quit, it's great to have a cigarette afterwards.
