Feedback: Yes please.. =) Rated: PG I guess? Thanks to Dave who without him and his alien filled yard I wouldn't have came up with this kina story, ever! Summary: Mulder and Scully make a trip to Missouri and end up confessing their feelings. July 23, 2004 Sikeston, Missouri 4:18pm Mulder and I are just driving into the town where we are investigating our next case. It's been a very long trip and we've had no time to eat or even sleep lately. I stare out the passenger side window, checking out what this place has to offer. Not a hell of a lot. Not like it matters anyway. We are not, nor do we ever have time to enjoy ourselves anywhere we go. Work, work, work. That's all we have time for, nothing more, nothing less. We are use to it though. No big deal. My eyes get wide as we pass a big green building with "Lambert's" written in huge letters on it. Home of the throwed rolls. God I am hungry! My stomach growls and I look at Mulder. He glances at me and grins. "Hungry Scully? Want some of them throwed rolls, don't ya?" I shrug. "It's going to take alot more than some rolls to satisfy my hunger." "Are you coming onto me Scully?" Mulder's grin widens. I roll my eyes. "You would think so, wouldn't you?" He smiles, "I know so Scully." That's Mulder. Such the flirt. Sometimes I wonder if he is like that with all of the women he comes across or just me. Not that he talks with too many other females. He works too much to meet very many. That kind of gives me a feeling of relief for some reason. I decide I don't want to give that too much thought. Luckily, I see we are now parking in the driveway of the people who we are questioning today about some events they witnessed. We both step out of the car and walk up to the door of the house. Right before we knock, a somewhat tall guy, slim, with dark hair and eyes, dressed in mostly black, with a silver cross around his neck opens the door. "Special Agents Mulder and Scully with the FBI" Mulder states and we show him our badges. "Are you David Logan?" I ask and he nods. "Nice to meet you both, please come on in." He guides us in and we have a seat in the living room on the couch. I look around and notice the other witness isn't here. Mulder must have too because he inquires about it. "Wasn't there a female as well, that seen the UFO with you?" David replies, "Ah, yes! She should be here any minute. She had to run a few errands." Mulder and I both nod. And as if on cue, there's a knock at the door. David goes to answer it and a girl walks in. She's about 5'6, long light brown hair, slender. She looks at both of us and smiles. We stand and shake hands. "Hi very nice to meet you, I'm Jeni." "I'm Agent Scully and this is Agent Mulder." I say, gesturing towards him. I look to Mulder and he has a weird look on his face, as he looks at Jeni. I raise my eyebrow, in question. "Have we met?" he asks her. She shrugs. "Um.. I dunno. Have we?" She looks confused. "Maybe it will come to me later." He says and we all sit down. "So tell us what exactly happened and what all you seen last Tuesday night... or early Wednesday morning rather. You did say it was around 1:00am, correct?" I ask, looking from David to Jeni. They nod and look at each other, as if which one will start. David decides to begin. "Well we were sitting outside in my backyard, talking about Jeni's issues." And not so quietly he adds, "And believe me, she has A LOT of them!" I see Jeni jab him in the ribs with her elbow and give us an embarrassed smile. I smile, thinking she's not the only one. "So anyway," Jeni takes over, probably to make sure he can't get any more of those remarks in. I don't blame her. "I seen a light, right above the roof of a house. Well more like 3 lights. I thought it kinda looked like a ballpark light. And I told Dave, 'Hey man, what is that?' and we are sitting there trying to figure out what it is. He said something like 'I think it's a car' and I said no way it's above that roof so it cannot be no car!" Dave rolls his eyes. He says in his defense, "No, I didn't say that!" Jeni nods and replies, "Yeah, ya did. Anyway," she keeps on. "All of a sudden it ever so slowly floats across the sky! And then we get up and follow it and it went behind some trees and by the time we ran around them it was gone!" She frowned. I could tell she was disappointed. Then David speaks up. "You didn't tell them all of it." He grins and she turns to look at him, confused. "What?" she asks. "Well," he proceeds, "as we were running around, trying to keep it in our sights..and I think this maybe a HUGE reason why it disappeared in the first place...Jeni was screaming 'Abduct Me! Abduct Me!' throwing her arms about, like a madwoman!" Mulder can't help but to chuckle at that and I smile, thinking this is quite amusing. I see Jeni glaring at David. Wow. If looks could kill. But she finally give in and smiles. "Yeah.. Haha funny. You could have left that out. I don't think it will help them any, Dave." David smiles and says, "It maybe why it disappeared. I'm just letting them know." he grinned evilly. Jeni just shook her head. "Oh and her lack of good English also might have scared them away too. She was yelling about 'Look it's hoovering! It's hoovering.' rather than hovering." David added. I seen Jeni wince at that comment. "Damn, don't you forget anything? Can't you let anything slip your mind, just once?" He simply said, "No." Mulder is covering his mouth, holding in his fits of laughter. I think it's pretty damn funny but I can see Jeni's getting really embarrassed and I don't want to add to that so I try to get back to the story. "So you just seen what you thought to look like 3 lights, floating through the air and you lost track of it when it went behind some trees?" I ask. They nod and David says, "Yeah, that's about it. I didn't think when I reported it that anyone would actually come and check it out though." "Well," Mulder began, "Normally we wouldn't have but there have been a lot of reports of similar sightings in these parts. So we got hand picked to come down here and see about them." We finished up talking with them and left. By this time I was starving. "Ok Mulder, time for them throwed rolls!" I say and we are off to Lamberts. July 24 2004 Drury Inn 3:21am I am awaken by a knocking on my hotel room door. My eyes slowly open. I look right at the clock. What the hell could be going on at 3 in the morning. "Just a minute." I yell as I drag myself out of bed and walk to the door. I open it to find Mulder, looking pale and sweaty. "Mulder?? What's wrong? What's going on?" I ask, very worried now. I step back and let him walk in. I turn and watch him sit on the bed. I go over and sit next to him, examining him with my eyes, I'm in Dr. mode. "Are you alright? You don't look alright." He nods. "I'm fine. I just had a dream. About my sister. Her being abducted." He swallowed hard. "I remembered where I have seen Jeni." I blink. What does having a dream about his sister and knowing Jeni have to do with each other? I'm just about to ask when he answers my thoughts. "She was Sam's friend." He stars off into space, like maybe he's imagining Sam and Jeni, many years ago, playing together as little children. I don't know what to think or say. So I just say the first thing that comes to mind. "Are... are you sure about that? Mulder we are in Missouri, why would she be here?" I ask him, thinking this is very coincidental. He thinks about this momentarily, "Yes, it's strange she'd be here, but what isn't strange with us?" He smiles and so do I. He's right. Not much is normal between the two of us. We talk a little more about it and he decides he is going to call her tomorrow and confirm his suspicion, that he's 100% sure of. I don't know for sure what talking to her is going to help him but if it makes him feel better then by all means I hope it gives him some piece of mind. He looks into my eyes for a very long time. There is silence and I am wondering what he is thinking. But for some reason I cannot bring the words to come out of my mouth. Then after what seems an eternity he speaks again. "Thank you Scully, for everything." he says, very softly. He almost looks like he is going to cry but he holds his tears back. He lowers his head and looks at the floor. Probably not sure of what to say next. I take my hand and lift up his chin to look back into my eyes. "There is no need to thank me, Mulder. I am with you, doing what we do, because I want to. You do not owe me any thanks. If anyone owes anyone it is I that owe you. If it wasn't for you I would have never learned or seen all of the things I have. I wouldn't have the same understanding about the world as I do today. I've seen things with you that has changed my whole outlook on life and that is something I'd never take back. Not only that, I have gotten the best friend anyone could ask for from all of this. You mean everything to me and I wouldn't trade what we have... for the world." I smile and let my hand down into my lap. He stares at me. I can tell he is touched by my words. It's not often I say how I feel about him and our job. But I am glad I did and I smile softly at him. There is another long silence as we sit there together on my hotel room bed. He looks as if he is thinking about doing or saying something. Before I know it he's saying the words I've always imagined yet never really heard from his mouth. "I love you, Scully." he looks deeply into my eyes and I cannot breathe for a moment. My heart skips a beat and I say, without hesitation, "I love you too, Mulder." We both smile, like a big weight has been lifted off our shoulders. He gathers me into his embrace and we hug. Not a hug like we have had in the past. This is one of love. Love we have now put out in the open. No more games. He slowly lets loose and I pull back slightly and we look back into one another's eyes. His lips are parted and moist. I lick mine slowly as our faces come closer together. I put my hand behind his head and he has one arm around my waist and one hand resting on my leg. Suddenly I feel every touch times 10 and as our lips meet, it feels as if the room is spinning. We hold onto each other tightly and our kiss becomes more intense. I do not have one thought in my head except, Wow. I never imagined this happening. But boy, am I glad it is. This is way overdue. But both of us was too scared to let go. Neither one wanting to take a chance because we don't want to risk losing what we have. But tonight we realize we will never loose what we have. It is too deep and too strong to ever loose. We were meant to be. Forever. I part my lips slowly and his tongue slides over my bottom one. He gently sucks on it and then our tongues meet and we deepen the kiss. It's like shockwaves run through my body and it is defiantly the best kiss I have or will ever experience. This is no New Year's Eve kind of kiss by any means. But that one was very pleasing. At least we did finally do it and no bee's were flying around. We finally break the kiss and I slowly open my eyes to meet his. He has a big grin on his face. "You sure know how to make a man feel better Scully." I blush, thinking how I still cannot believe this happened. He looks at the clock and it's nearly 4:00am. "Well we have a long trip tomorrow so we better get some sleep." I can tell he really doesn't want to but I agree we do need to rest. He pulls me forwards and kisses my forehead. Then my cheek and softly once more on my lips. My eyes are closed and I am spinning again. I open them to snap out of it. We smile. I reach over and turn off the light and without saying another word we lay down next to one another and Mulder holds me till we both fall alseep. July 24, 2004 Drury Inn 10:32am I am just waking up and I am in bed alone. I am thinking last night was just a dream till I turn and see a peace of hotel notepad paper on the pillow next to mine. It reads, 'Good morning beautiful, I went to meet Jeni for breakfast at Jay's chicken. (She says they have great sausage n' biscuits). Turns out she is who I thought. She didn't want to say anything to me about it because she knew how hard it was on me when Sam disappeared and didn't want to dredge up old memories. She just moved here a couple years ago. Come meet up with us if you like. -Mulder P.S. By the way, we are not just forgetting that last night ever happened, like usual.' Next to the last line he drew a smiley face, which makes me smile. I am glad he mentioned it. I was afraid this would never be brought up again. Like usual. I decide to stay here and get cleaned up. I want to let Mulder have his time alone with Jeni to talk to her about Samantha and the past. I watch tv and after I get bored of that I grab a book I brought along and began reading to pass the time. XxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxX Meanwhile Mulder sits at Jays Chicken at a booth, sitting across from Jeni. They both order the sausage and biscuits, Mulder gets coffee to drink and Jeni orders orange juice. Mulder looks Jeni over thoughtfully. "Wow you have changed so much." She looks up at him and a smile crosses her lips. "You.... haven't." He raises a brow at that. "Is that good or bad??" Jeni nods quickly. "Oh.. Very ... very good." She grins and blushes lightly. Mulder chuckles and sips his coffee. He remembered, she had such a big crush on him. He pictured seeing her and she would run off giggling as a little girl. She'd whisper to Samantha.. 'Shhhh, don't tell him!' which would follow by Sam's giggles. He took some bites of his food. "All these years... I cannot believe I have ran into like this." Jeni nodded, "Yeah, we moved not long after Samantha disappeared. My mom met a guy and he lived here so this is where we have been ever since." There was a long silence as they ate their food, looking for something to say. Jeni finally began, "I remember one time when Sam stayed the night with me.. " she looked off into space as if she could see the past events playing on a tv screen, very life-like. Mulder listened intently. "It was pouring down rain and it was just turning dark..but we just HAD to go down the street to the gas station for some candy.." she paused a moment, thinking, "jolly ranchers I think it was." She looked to Mulder and smiled softly. "We ran..no.. we *skipped* to the store in the rain. It was coming down so hard we could barely see anything, it was getting in our eyes and there was not a dry spot on us but we just laughed and laughed and sang at the top of our lungs..." her eyes dropped down to the table, "Somewhere over the rainbow." Jeni could hear the song playing over in her head. She sighed and shook her head mentally to snap out of her trance. She look back to Mulder who now was the one staring into space. He smiled and said quietly, "I can picture that." They both finished up there breakfast and headed back each to their respective places. They exchanged numbers in case one day they would like to meet up again, to share old memories. XxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxXx I look up hearing Mulder walk in. "So how did it go?" I ask, watching him to make sure he isn't upset. He smiled, "It went well..made me feel a lot better." He told me a little bit about what they talked about but not too much detail. I was just glad he was content. He sat down on the bed next to me and I clicked off the tv. "Well I guess we should get checked out." I say to him and he nods. Then he puts his hand on top of mine and looks at me with those hazel eyes of his. I tilt my head in thought and smile softly. He finally speaks softly and low, "Scully... you don't want to forget what happened between us last night... do you?" I shake my head. "No, not at all." I see a moment of relief fill his face. "Good, neither do I." We both just smile and he puts his arms around me and I return the embrace. From that moment on there was many more kisses and many more hugs and many, many, more passionate moments. We finally took that last step. We were finally made whole. We were one. We always have been, but now, we admitted it to not only ourselves, but to everyone. And we were not afraid anymore. After all, life is too short for that. End.
