Tears welled up in her eyes and she slid to the floor, her back still to the door. She raised her hands up to cover her tear streaked face, unconsciously wiping at the running mascara. What had she been thinking? She would never see him again. What was he thinking now? Was he thinking about her? Was he frightened? Did he miss her? Was he crying as she was? Her mind bombarded her with questions to which she had no answers. God, he'd only been gone for a few hours, and yet she was already a wreck. She already missed his smile, the way he looked at her with such adoration and love in his eyes. Standing up, she smoothed out her shirt and wiped away the tears with the back of her hand. She looked down the darkened hallway and saw the door to the bedroom. Almost as if she had no control over herself, she walked towards it. The room behind the closed door seemed to beckon her. Her hand moved to the doorknob before she could even think about what she was doing. The door opened with a slight creak and she stepped in, moving to the place where he had slept. This room held so many memories. She remembered the first time he had smiled at her, the first time he had cried for her, the first time he had laughed. The memories were too much for her, but she could not stop them from swarming like a colony of bees. They swamped her and she was unable to help herself from collapsing onto the floor in a heap. The broken pieces of her heart poured out of her with the river of tears. A blanket that had been hanging over the edge of the of his resting place fell into her lap. Briefly, she raised it to her nose and inhaled his scent. It reminded her of everything she had given up. Oh, how wrong she had been. Would his father ever forgive her? Would he ever know? How could she think that someone other than herself could protect him better than she? Untwisting her legs, she lowered herself to the floor, bringing the blanket up to her face again. She closed her eyes, only to be greeted with his face. Another sob caught in her throat as her actions and their consequences suddenly hit her full force. What was done, is done. There was nothing she could do about it now. This realization only brought more tears. Suddenly, she understood how alone she was now and wondered if she would ever see any of them again. Her love. Her baby. Her heart. Authors Notes: Ok...I was really angry after William aired, and I thought that the decision to get rid of him was a horrible mistake. I just had to write something that made it seem a little more realistic to me. Don't get me wrong the acting was wonderful, but I just didn't feel the weight of the issue, and I didn't feel that anything had been resolved. So, I had to play with Scully's emotions a little more. I hope what I came up with was suitable. Thanks for reading...and remember...Mana Loves Feedback!
