She claims to have been abducted by aliens. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- "Fox." The voice whispered through the shadows. Mulder turned and stepped towards the sound. The voice was one he had longed to hear for years. He responded to his name almost immediately. "Sam?" "No, I'm Rebecca." The voice gained a body, it had to be Sam, Mulder was sure of it. Long brown hair, tangled into a possible ponytail; large, green, searching eyes; but Sam should be thirty-something by now, not in her mid-teens, like this girl. Sadness tinged his voice. "Oh." The anticipation drained from his face. Rebecca took a step forward. "I may not be Sam, Fox, but I am your sister." "What?" "I'm your sister. Sam's twin." "That's...that's..." "...impossible? No. I'll explain, but not here. You need to get me out." Her face pleaded, desperate, she searched his face, waiting for him to give in. Mulder thought, then spoke. "I have an idea. Don't go anywhere." Then Mulder grinned. How could she go anywhere? She's in a damn sanatorium. Mulder rapped on the steel door. It slid open on invisible tracks. Scully glanced at Mulder as he stepped out. He replied to the look with, "I need to get her out of here." "Mulder." Scully sighed. "You don't believe the story, do you? Mulder, it's just a girl, she completely spaced out. How could you believe her?" "She said my name, Scully." Mulder stopped and looked at his partner. "The way Sam did." "Just because she said your name like Sam doesn't mean anything." "I have a hunch about this, Scully." He began to walk again. Scully watched him, then began to follow him. *What the hell,* she thought, *he's always got hunches, and their usually right*. She caught up to Mulder, and asked him, "How will you get her out then?" Mulder smiled as they reached the guard, 'Just watch' he mouthed. The guard looked up as Mulder cleared his throat. "Yes, Sir?" "I've received orders to take the patient from B15 back to FBI HQ. We'd like to take her now." "Certainly, Sir." "Thankyou." Mulder turned away to hide the grin on his face. "Easy." He whispered at Scully. * * * Mulder's Office "Thanks." Rebecca smiled broadly at Scully, accepting the can of Coke. "Can you tell me what's been happening?" Mulder leaned forward in his seat, holding Rebecca's hand. "Yes." Rebecca closed her eyes and breathed in. "As I said before, Sam and I are twins. When we were born, I was taken away." "Away?" Scully interrupted. "Yes. I'm unsure who took me. But I know I was raised by…well, you may think I'm crazy." "People call me that all the time. Don't worry." Mulder's eyes shone. Rebecca looked back at Mulder before she continued. "Raised by…ali…definitely not humans. I was used as a guinea pig, I guess, but they didn't treat me cruelly. I grew up with them. They gave me gifts' in a sense. And.." "Gifts?" Mulder enquired. "You know, like delayed ageing." Scully looked doubtful. "Agent Scully, I'm not kidding. I was born when Sam was. We're twins. The aliens took us at separate times, one at birth, me, and another just before the puberty onset, that's Sam, to see the effects of giving female humans treatments at different stages of life. They let me go when they took Sam. And they'll be taking me back again soon, that's when they'll release Sam." Rebecca's face showed no signs of joking or lies. Mulder's eyes grew wide. "When will this happen?" "Soon Fox, within a week or so." "Will she be brought to me? What will she look like? You? Right now? Will she be taken to another state, then released? Or another country even? You've got to tell me, Beck, I need to know." Mulder's eyes clouded over. In a second, his anxiety spilled out onto his face, showing deep concern. Rebecca placed a hand on Mulder's shoulder. "She'll come back to you, Fox. I swear, she will." "Will I ever see both of you together?" Mulder asked. "No, Fox, you won't." Mulder grabbed Rebecca, hugged her, burying his head in her shoulder. Damn, he thought, I've found a sister again and she's leaving soon. Damn. His tear's spilled into Rebecca's hair. "Why can't I have both of you at once?" he demanded to no-one in particular, his thick with emotion. "I've only seen you for a day, but I've known you all my life, don't go, not yet." "It's the way they want it, Fox." As she spoke, Mulder heard the familiar sound of a recording reel. Damn. In an instant, he had jumped up, shouldered the door open and was dashing down the hall, towards the recording room. * * * The Recording Room The recording room was dark and seedy. Mulder could see a faint smoke spiral, and leapt towards it. "Damn you. Stop wrecking my life!" Mulder's hands flailed everywhere, hitting, hurting, his enemy, "Stop smoking that cigarette and tell me the truth!" "Go away Mr Mulder," the Cancer Man rasped. "Your sisters need you." Mulder threw a final, blind punch at the man before running back to his office. * * * Mulder's Office As soon as Mulder entered his office, he knew something was wrong. Scully was standing still, braced against the wall, silent. No Rebecca. In three strides, he had covered the distance to his partner's side. "Dana," he waved his hands across her eyes, "Dana, can you hear me?" Scully blinked. "Mulder, I saw something…it's…I don't know…but…Rebecca…she's…gone." Scully whispered the last word, knowing what her partner's reaction would be. Mulder slammed his fist into the wall, near Scully's head. "There was a light, Mulder, and something behind it, I don't know, stop it Mulder, you're scaring me." While Scully had been talking, Mulder had generally been wrecking his office, kicking his chair over, opening his filing cabinet, pulling hundreds of sheafs of paper out. Then he came across the body. It looked like Rebecca. "Fox?!" The girl sat up. "Sam?!" Mulder couldn't believe it. "Yeah." Then, they clung to each other. Scully smiled at the spectacle. Here was Mulder, chatting away, just as if he was twelve again. The dark curtain that had hung over his eyes for so many years, had been lifted, revealing the real Mulder, happy and laughing. A tear slid down Scully's cheek. His dreams come true. Once Mulder and Sam could restrain their delight, Fox looked at Sam and asked, deadly serious, "Did they feed you cheeseburgers on Mars?" Scully couldn't resist it. A chuckle built up in her throat and exploded out, setting the other two off again. * * * FBI Interview Room "So Sam, can you explain to us what happened?" Scully asked Sam in the interview room. It was only four hours since they had met each other, but Sam and Scully had become instant friends. Now, it was time for the official report. "Well," Sam started, "Beck's told you this already, that we are being used as experiments, taken at different times in life. Newborn, pre-teen, mid-teen, young adult, 30-something, middle-age and once more before death." "How do you know what Beck did? "We have a connection with each other. Basically, we share our lives with each other." "Can you tell me who were your abductors? Where did you live? What did they do to you?" Mulder wanted answers, the truth. "They look human. I believe you've met some of them. They took my DNA, cloned it, speeded up the growing process, and 'organically grew' the Samantha colony you met when they needed protection from the Bounty Hunter. The government knows about. They all supported what happened, except Dad. He was against it, and was ready to tell all." "When was this?" "About the time me and Beck were going to be born. Dad was threatened, but he didn't listen, so they took Beck, as a the last warning. He was made to let me to be taken next. He totally against all the time, Fox. Honestly, he was." "Then why can't I remember Beck? Why can't Mum? Why didn't Dad ever mention her?" "You and Mum were brainwashed to forget about it. Dad was too scared to mention her. What's happened to Mum anyway?" "We'll finish the interview first, then I'll take you too her." * * * The Hospital Mulder watched his mothers' still form, and Sam, through the observation window. Inside, Sam began to talk to her mother. "Mum? It's me, Sam. I don't know if you can hear me, mum, because, I want you to know, that I'm back, and wasn't Dad's fault. He was forced. Oh, please, wake up mum. I love you." The woman's eyelids fluttered. "Sam?" she croaked. "Oh, darling." Her hand reached up to touch Sam's face. Mulder pushed through the door. "She's awake! Mum, Sam's back." "Fox, I know, I've been talking to her. My baby's back." "I know, mother." Mulder gathered the two women in his arms in a bear hug. Scully stood by the door, hesitating, not willing to spoil the moment. "Scully, come here." "I shouldn't, I'm not family." "You are to me, Scully." Mulder made room for her in the hug. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- That was my first fanfic, so treat it kindly! Onc
