Singing with the break of dawn. Fluttering from tree to tree, bouncing the morning dew to the damp ground. A beautiful serenade that would make anyone at peace. He heard the beating of their wings as they flew about, the sound of the limbs bending, as they landed on a nearby branch. He felt the warmth of the sun as it peered down through the thick forest of trees. He rubbed his eyes, groggily. He never remembered hearing such things in his apartment. As he opened them to the breath taking sight before him, he gasped. He wasn't in his apartment.By the looks of the unfamiliar surroundings, he wasn't anywhere near his apartment. He was in a forest. Thick and dense. The trees swayed with the morning breeze. He shuttered. He looked down at some wildflowers, growing at his feet, and noticed that he was wearing unusual clothing. He had many layers of cloth on him. He had tight fitting pants that clung close to his skin, decorated with metal beads. As he turned his head he noticed that he also had a long cape, that was blowing with the wind. "Where in the hell am I," Mulder thought to himself. A rustling in the bushes made him turn around. He desperately looked around for anything that he could use to protect himself. He checked the belt hanging around his waist, but his gun was gone. "Shit" He muttered under his breath. A large figure jumped out from the bushes, making him jump backwards. "Master Robin!", he panted out of breath. " We've been looking for you all morning. Come quick, Will killed a deer, so We'll have breakfast!" He man hollered happily. "Will?" Mulder questioned, raising his eyebrow. "Quit kidding, Robin. Come on, we were getting worried." He man confessed, lowering his voice. Seeing that the man was of no harm, and obviously a friend, a followed, still having no clue in what was going on. They walked through the thick blanket of trees, the small branches whacked him in the face every few steps. He cursed them under his breath and kept walking. Finally they arrived in a clearing and he couldn't believe the sight before him. There were about fifty men, going about their business. Some bringing wood to a large fire, others were on the roofs of the small wooden houses that scattered the clearing. The man led him over the fire where people greeted him with smiles and pats on the back. "Hey, Master Robin!! Where have you been?" One man asked. "I was..just...going for a walk.." Mulder answered, playing along. "Yeah right. I'm still suprised that none of the sheriff's men saw you." The large man grumbled. "The sheriff?" Mulder questioned, looking at the circle of men. "The sheriff of Naughtingham." Another man replied sarcastically. "Naughtingham?" Mulder asked quietly. Then it all fell into place. Mulder sat down on a log as reality smacked him in the face. He was back in Robin Hood's time. The large man had called him "Master Robin.", and they were babbling about the sheriff of Naughtingham. And right now they must be in Sherwood Forest. "Why does this always happen to me?" Mulder grumbled to himself. "Am I asleep? How in the Hell did I get here?" He asked himself over and over again. After several moments of consideration, he decided to play along with it, until he could figure out how to get back to the twentieth century. "Robin? Hey, is anyone home?" The large man asked laughing disrupting his thoughts. "Yeah, um, I was just thinking." He answered. " 'Bout what?" He asked. " How long have we been out here?" Mulder asked, gesturing his hands toward the woods. " I'd say about six months, wouldn't you Little John?" A man said looking at the large man. "Little John!" Mulder said to himself excitedly. " So that's his name." "Yep," Little John answered, " I'd say about that, give or take a few weeks. Why do you ask, Robin?" John asked. " It's time that we got out of here." Mulder said, a wide grin spreading across his dirty face. "Are you kidding? We're outlaws! If we were ever seen by the Sheriff, then it would be our necks!" John protested. "I have a plan." Mulder said grinning. **************************************************************************** ************************** "Maid Marian! Maid Marian! You're late! Wake up Ma'am!" A voice yelled. Scully rolled over and pulled the pillow over her head. "Leave me alone." She whispered. After a few moments she flew out of her bed. "Who's there!" She screamed, realizing that the voice wasn't a dream. She froze in place as she looked around the room she was in. She wasn't at her apartment. The walls were stone, and the ceiling was extremely high. As she looked down, she saw that she wasn't in the clothes that she wore to bed the night before. She was wearing a long white robe that flowed to the ground. "Marian." A woman said as she walked into the room. "You look like you just saw a ghost." The older woman said quietly. "Where am I ?!!" Scully screamed to the woman. "Marian, you're home, in your castle. Child, I think that you may be running a fever." The woman said as she stepped toward Scully, putting a hand on her forehead. Scully stepped back from the woman's touch. "Who are you?" Scully asked, a little quieter. "It's me, Sarah. Marian, what did you eat last night?" Sarah asked, concerned. "Where's Mulder?" Scully demanded stepping back a pace. "Mulder? I don't know what you're talking about, but I suggest that you get back in bed and I'm going to send for a doctor." Sarah said, looking at Scully. Scully ignored her and walked around the room. It was enormous. She then made her way to an open window and peered outside, ever so carefully. She was up extremely high, and saw a small dirt road that led away from the castle . Below, horses galloped across the fields that surrounded the castle. "Where am I?", Scully asked again, still looking out the window. "Marian, I already told you," Sarah said, stepping closer to her, "You're home." Sarah finished. "No! What city am I in, what state?" Scully demanded, spinning around to face her. "State?" Sarah questioned. "Marian, you're in Naughtingham, in England, where you've lived you whole life." Sarah said, tears whelling up in her eyes. "Naughtingham?" Scully asked with a blank stare on her face. "I'm in Naughtingham?" Scully asked again. "Yes, my lady." Sarah said through sobs. "Don't you remember?" She asked. Scully walked away and sat on the bed. "OK," She said to herself. "Let's think logically. I can't be in Naughtingham, because it doesn't exist. Neither did Maid Marian, it's just a story." Scully said as she continued to talk to herself. There were a million things racing through her mind. "You have a meeting with the Sheriff of Naughtingham in a few hours, you must be there Marian, or he will take your lands." Sarah said whipping tears from her eyes. "King Richard isn't back yet?" Scully asked, playing along. "You remembered!" Sarah exclaimed excitedly. "No, but the sheriff wants to meet with you." Sarah said, again. "I don't want to go." Scully said firmly. "If I remember him correctly, he's pure evil." She added. "Marian, you must! He'll take away your castle, your lands, you'll end up living in the forest like Robin Hood!" Sarah explained. "Robin Hood?" Scully asked anxiously. "Yes. The man who is taken with you." Sarah said. Scully's mind was racing. He could help her. "I want to see him." Scully said firmly. "Where is Sherwood forest?" She asked turning toward Sarah. "If you're seen with him, you'll be killed." Sarah said in a low voice. "I don't care." Scully said looking at the floor. "After your meeting I'll show you." Sarah informed. "Fine." Scully answered as Sarah left the room. Scully knew that if anyone could help her get back, it would be Robin Hood. She had read all the story books. She just hoped that he would be able to get her back to where she belonged, with Mulder. **************************************************************************** ******************* Scully grumbled to herself as she walked into the small barn next to the castle. She hated horseback riding with a passion. When she was a child, she loved horses. She remembered that she had every "My Little Pony" that was ever made. That was until her mother actually let her go horseback riding and the horse bucked her off, breaking her wrist. "Stupid horse," Scully mumbled to herself, remembering the past. There were two horses that were in the barn, while the rest were running out through the pasture. Scully stood back, examining both the horses, deciding which one looked the most vicious . After several moments of consideration, she chose the black one. It was a beautiful horse. It's black coat gleamed in the sun as Scully led him out of the barn. His tail was in braids-ribbons decorating the bottom of each individual strand. His mane blew freely through the afternoon breeze. "Nice horse." Scully cooed as she mounted the animal. "My Lady!!" Sarah yelled from the distance. Scully turned to see Sarah running from the castle gate toward her. This was the first time Scully really noticed Sarah's appearance. She was short . Even shorter than Scully. She wasn't the thinnest person that Scully had ever seen either. She had long brown hair that was up in a braid. And her entire head was basically covered with cloth. Scully smiled as the woman ran to her side. "My Lady!" She panted out of breath. "Why aren't you riding "Lady"?" She asked. "Well, I felt like riding this one..today." Scully said, patting the horses neck. "Charger? I didn't think that you liked him much." Sarah pointed out. "Charger?" Scully thought to herself. "Oh, Dana, you did a great job on picking the right horse. Now I'm on this killer beast." She rolled her eyes and then looked at Sarah. "Wait a minute and I'll get Lady ready and then we'll be off." Sarah said as she disappeared into the barn. A few minutes later, she returned, riding the white horse. "Ready?" She asked. "As ready as I'll ever be." Scully said without enthuasium. Scully gently pressed her heels into the horse's flank, and they were off. **************************************************************************** ************ Sarah and Scully galloped into the village. Scully saw an enormous castle in the center of the village, where she assumed the sheriff resided. They trotted up to the main gate and dismounted. Some guards in armor came over and took the horses, asked them their business, and then disappeared into the crowd. "My Lady, be careful. This man trades in lies. He is truly wicked. Take this," Sarah said as she pulled a small dagger from her dress. "I'll be back soon, and then.." Scully said as she was cut off. "..We'll go to Sherwood forest. I promise." Sarah said as she walked away. Scully walked up to the gate, but a guard stopped her. "What is your business here?" He asked with an English accent. "I have a meeting with the Sheriff of Naughtingham." Scully informed, trying to remain calm. "Very well." He said, stepping aside so that she could pass. Scully walked into the castle and gasped. It was huge. There were beautiful paintings on the walls. One in particular caught her attention. It was a picture of woman on a white horse and a young man kneeling before her with a sunset in the background. She was a real sap for those kind of things. "Can I help you?" A voice asked, causing Scully to spin around with fright. Before her was a man that was barely taller than she was. He had black curly hair that went passed his shoulders. Despite his short height, he seemed extremely muscular through all his clothing. "Yes.. I um.. have a meeting with the Sheriff." Scully said, gathering her bearings. "Marian, I haven't seen you for so long. Not since your brother died." The man grinned. "You look more radiant than ever." He added, glancing down at her long, beaded dress. "Thank you." Scully said, suprised. "Come with me to my office, and we will conduct our business there." The man said, gesturing for her to take his arm. Scully hesitantly took his arm as he led her up a flight of stairs. "Take a seat my love." The man said, who was obviously the sheriff. Scully obeyed and sat in a small fluffy chair. "I want you to move into the village with me. We can build you a castle here, but with you so far out in the country, it is difficult for me to protect you." The sheriff said looked at her with concern. Scully saw right through it. "My Lord, I love where I live right now. It was my father's castle and I have every intention of staying there as long as I can. I have plenty of protecting, especially when King Richard is here." Scully said, looking at the little man. The Sheriff shuttered at the name. He knew that he had little time before King Richard came back, if he wasn't dead already. "Yes, but Marian..." The sheriff started. "I assure you, I am fine." Scully said, cutting him off. "Yes...But don't you get lonely in that big castle with no one to talk with?" The sheriff asked, getting a little too close for comfort. She knew exactly what he was doing. "Get away from me." Scully said solemnly, stepping back. The man ignored her, only getting closer to her, backing her to a nearby wall. "I said....!" Scully tried, but was cut off, by the sheriff's powerful hand. It covered most of her face. Scully panicked. She slowly put her hand down to her side to reach for the dagger Sarah had given her. When she found the familiar handle, she thrust it upward to his face. But he was too quick for her. He grabbed her wrist tightly, forcing her to flinch. She released the dagger and he took it with his other hand. With one shift motion, he flew it across her face, leaving nothing but pain, and a trail of blood on her forehead. Scully screamed at the top of her lungs, hoping for someone to hear. After a few moments, she heard footsteps at the closed door. As the sheriff turned his head, she knew that this was her only chance. She raised her knee to kick him in the groin, and he flew back in response. Scully took off for the door as fast as her little legs could carry her. She shoved open the door with all her might and then flew down the stairs. Blood ran into her eyes as she ran. Faster and faster she flew out the front door to see Sarah staring in shock. "Come on! We have to get out of here!" Scully screamed as she mounted Charger. She kicked her heals into his flanks as hard as she could and they tore out of the village and toward Sherwood forest. *********************************************************************** They galloped for what seemed hours. Relief swept over Scully as she saw the beginning of trees and shrubs. She knew that they were getting close. Sarah slowed Lady to a halt. "Marian? What happened back there?" She questioned, knowing that they were safe. "He cornered me, and I knew exactly what he was doing. When I reached up to stab him, he grabbed my wrist and then cut my face." Scully finished, as she gingerly touched the wound on her forehead. "I think that he twisted my wrist." She added as she examined her bruising hand. "From the looks of it, you'll have a pretty nasty scar on your head." She said, concerned. "What's one more scar?" Scully asked, looking at Sarah. "You don't care if you have a ugly mark across your face?" Sarah asked in disbelief. "Not if it means that I stood up for myself! I mean, what did you want me to do? Let him stand there and rape me? I'd make sure to tell him to not leave any scars when he's through with me." Scully said, sarcastically . "Marian," Sarah started quietly. "I just don't want anything to happen to you. You're like a daughter to me. I've raised you since the day that you were born. I just want you to be safe." Sarah said, trying hard not to cry. "I'm fine." Scully said, whipping blood from her forehead. "Let's go, come on." She added, putting her good arm on Sarah's back. Sarah smiled in return and they headed into the woods. ************************************************************************* "So, what do you think?" Mulder asked, standing up, after explaining his idea. "Robin-ARE YOU CRAZY!?" Little John asked. "What do you mean?" Mulder asked, confused. "Robin, the sheriff has armed troops. You think that we men can stand up to ARMED TROOPS?" Will asked in disbelief. "Yes I do." Mulder said calmly. "Robin, you're the only one here that even knows how to shoot an arrow." Little John complained. "Then I'll teach you." Mulder replied quickly, walking over to a bow. Mulder shuttered as he picked it up. He had never fired an arrow in his entire life. And now, here he was, Robin Hood, the man that could hit anything that he was aiming at, and he had never even looked at an arrow. "Why didn't I go to the last Indian Guide?" Mulder asked himself, shaking his head. Mulder slowly pulled the arrow back and prayed for a miracle as he aimed at the target. He let go with one swift motion, letting the arrow soar through the air. When it hit, seconds later, it was at the very center of the target. Mulder stared ahead in disbelief. He couldn't believe his eyes! He actually hit the target. The men in the back were cheering. "Robin, teach us how to do it!" Will and the others cried. "Well, OK. It's not that difficult. All that you have to do is pull the arrow back with the bow; keep your eyes straight across the top of it, and let a rip." Mulder said, hoping that he was giving the right advise. The others picked up their bows and arrows and began shooting. To his surprise, almost all of the arrows hit close to the target. "That's it! you got it." Mulder said as he turned away. He made his way to a lone tree with an old blind man sitting underneath its shade. Mulder picked up some bread they had managed to steal and walked over to him. "Duncan, here eat this. It's bread." Mulder said bending down the man. "Master Robin? Is that you?" Duncan asked shakily. "Yes. It's me." Mulder replied with compassion. "What are you telling them?" He asked. "I'm teaching them to fight, well, to shoot arrows anyway." He said as he looked back at the others. "You're planning to fight against the sheriff?" Duncan asked. "Be careful Master Robin." Duncan added. "I will, I promise." Mulder said as he stood. "Master Robin!!!!!" A voice screamed from beyond the bushes. Mulder looked up and ran to the spot where he heard the noise. "Master Robin?" A man yelled as he appeared from the undergrowth. "What is it?" Mulder asked, bending in the brush. "Look out has spotted someone coming our way!" He whispered. "How many?" Mulder asked, drawing his bow. "Two." The man answered. "Two? How far up?" Mulder asked, preparing to fire. "Umm... look out said about 50 yards, but they must be closer now." The man replied. "Do you see them?" Mulder asked, peering above the fullidge. "Ummm,...n...yes!! Yes, look they are about 20 yards out on horses." The man said ducking down. Mulder looked in the direction the man was pointing and saw two woman on horseback. One was older and short, but the other was...Wait!! Could it be? From his position in the bushes the other woman looked exactly like Scully. Exactly. "Hold your fire." Mulder told the man, scrambling to his feet. Mulder walked into the clearing. It was Scully. "Scully?" Mulder yelled as she approached. Scully turned to the direction the voice came from. She knew that voice. It was a deep, concerning voice. It made her tingle all over. And then she saw him. Standing in the clearing, only a few yards up ahead. He was wearing the same expression that she probably was. Complete disbelief. She dismounted Charger and ran as fast as she could to him. When she finally reached her destination, she felt the warmth of his arms enfolding her. A place that she knew she would always be safe. A place where she knew she could find love. "Scully?" Mulder questioned into her hair. "I can't believe it! I thought that I was the only one here." He explained. "Ditto." Scully said into his strong chest. "You look beautiful, my Marian." Mulder said smiling into her eyes, and that's when he saw it. "Scully, what happened to your forehead?" He asked, worriedly. "I sort of had a little run in the with Sheriff." She explained. "He did this to you!?" Mulder asked, his voice, furious. "I'll going to kill that son of a .." Mulder started. "Mulder, It's all right. I'm fine." Scully said, lying to his face. "Scully, you could be in the arms of death itself, and you would still say that you were fine." Mulder said, looking at her intently. "Come with me and we'll get you cleaned up." He ordered, taking her hand. She followed, knowing that there was no way in the world to stop him. She knew that he was protective. Part of her liked it, needed it, wanted the comfort. But another half her wanted to be independent. He led her into one of the small wooden houses as the sun began to sink into the sky. Mulder put a wet cloth up to her head, making her wince. "Sorry." He apologized. When he was finally done cleaning the wound, he looked at her. She was so beautiful. Her hair was like fire. Her eyes were a deep ocean of blue and her smile was as dazzling as the morning sunrise. It made him melt all over. "Mulder, I think that he may have twisted my wrist too." Scully confessed, making his lose his thoughts. He gently lifted her arm and examined it. It wasn't broken, just twisted. He quickly mended it with another cloth and then looked up at her, intently. "What?" Scully asked, confused. "Did I ever tell you how beautiful you are?" He asked. "Mulder.." She started, but was cut off. "Because you are." He finished, taking her hand. "Thank you." She said quietly. "Come on," he said standing up. "Let's go for a ride." He led her through the door way. They mounted their horses, and Mulder led her into the woods. When they finally stopped, Scully could not believe her eyes. She had never in her life seen anything so beautiful as compared to this. There was a crystal clear stream, flowing from a small waterfall. Then sun just getting ready to set behind it. The sky danced with pinks, oranges and reds. It was gorgeous. Mulder dismounted his horse, and then walked to help Scully off of hers'. "Mulder, ....this place...is so beautiful." Scully said, gazing around. "I know. I have spent most of the day here. It makes me feel so peaceful and calm." Mulder explained, not taking one eye off Scully. "Why did you bring me here?" Scully asked. Mulder swallowed. This was the hard part. He had kept his feelings bottled up for so long, he knew that if he didn't get it out, then he would explode. "When I got here," Mulder started, sitting on a rock. "I felt empty . Alone. I realized that when I was around you, I never felt that way." Scully looked at him, passionately. "And when I saw you coming on the horse, I have never been so happy in my life. I knew that I wouldn't be alone. I have a great fear of loneliness. I know that I hide it, but it's true." Mulder looked up for a moment, to see Scully's eyes beginning to water. "I need to get this out Scully. I..... love you. I have for so long." Mulder tried, but his eyes too, filled up with tears. "When you had your cancer, and every time that you were taken away from me, I knew that I couldn't go on without you. I couldn't. I'd miss your rational explanations too much, or when you roll your eyes at me, when you think that I'm totally crazy. But I am crazy, crazy about you. Scully, I always dream of us, together. I touch your cheek, and brush back your hair, I can't get you out of my mind." Mulder confessed. Scully was sobbing. She walked over to him as he swallowed her with his arms. "Mulder, I have loved you for so long....." She started, but was cut off, by a finger against her mouth. Mulder traced the out line of her lips, taking in every detail. He gently put a strand of hair that had fallen to her face back behind her ear. He touched her cheek, gently; feeling her smooth skin against his rather large hands. She just stared back at him, letting him touch her. Letting him in. They stood like this for several minutes, as the sun sank beneath the sky. Mulder moved closer, almost pressed against her. He gently dipped his head down to hers and grazed her lips softly. She hesitated at first, but then kissed him back. They stood for what seemed an eternity of heaven together, when something moved in the bushes. Scully pulled away, and stared into her dimming surroundings with fear in her eyes. Mulder stood infront of her, protectingly. He pulled the large sword from his back and waited for whatever was out there. He felt Scully trembling behind him. And then from the woods came men. Hundreds of them. All with arrows and swords pointed right at them. Mulder pushed Scully back. And then a shorter man with black curly hair spoke up. "Hand her over, and no harm will come to you." The sheriff spoke, looking right at Scully. "Over my dead body." Mulder said solemnly. "That can be arranged." The sheriff said as a few men stepped forward . "NO!!!!!!!!!!" Scully screamed, stepping in front of Mulder. "If I go with you, will you leave this man alone and let him live in peace?" Scully offered. "May I die right here, if I'm lying." The sheriff said. "Scully, what are you doing?" Mulder asked as he stepped in front of her. "Mulder, if you try to protect me, then they will kill you and they will take me anyway, but this way, you won't be killed. Now go, run deep into the forest and they will never find you." Scully ordered. "Scully, I'm not just going to let them take you." Mulder said, trying not to cry. "You have to. It'll be all right. I promise." Scully said, fighting back her own tears. "Scully,..." Mulder protested, but was cut off by her lips, against his. He instantly feel into her spell of kisses, into a dream world. That world was abruptly shattered as the sheriff pulled Scully away from him and onto his horse. Scully kicked and screamed. "You didn't even let me say good bye!!!!!!!!" She screamed into his ear. Mulder then did the hardest thing that he had ever done, he ran back into the woods knowing that they would kill him if he even tried to go near her. Tears streamed down his face as he ran back to camp through the night. He felt as though someone had just ripped out his heart. "Don't worry, Scully." Mulder said to himself. "I'll get you back, tonight." When Mulder reached camp, he explained to everyone what had happened and that they were going to break into Naughtingham castle tonight. "But Robin? Do you think that we are ready?" Little John asked. "Yes I do. I have seen the way that all of you fight. The way that you shoot, but mostly I see what's in your hearts. Are you sick of hiding in the woods?" Mulder Asked, yelling. "YEAH!!!!!!!!!!" They all replied. "Then tonight is the night that you take your freedom back. For you, your wives and for your children. Lets move." Mulder said. ************************************************************************* They reached Naughtingham castle, only a few short hours later. Mulder had explained to them his plan and they all agreed. Mulder was going to go save Scully, while they distracted the guards. The night wind blew, and Mulder gave the signal. Men popped out everywhere! They charged into the darkness, hollering and screaming. The guards then did as he expected them to, ran out to fight them . During all the chaos, Mulder sneaked into the front castle door. He climbed the stairs slowly, until he heard a scream, and knew it was Scully. He dashed the rest of the way until he came to the room that contained the sheriff and Scully. He kicked down the wooden door with one swift motion. His heart stopped at the sight before him. Scully was lying on the floor, with the sheriff on top of her. There was a significant amount of blood coming from her side. The sheriff was going to rape her. He knew it, even though that she still had all her cloths on, he was going to rape her. The thought made his shake with anger. He drew his sword and kicked him roughly off Scully and the duel began. The sheriff was ready. He drew his sword and the battle began. Scully slowly trudged to her feet to get out of the way. Mulder flung the sword toward him, but the sheriff blocked it. He did the maneuver right back, but Mulder was ready. Scully saw metal hitting metal as the sheriff and Mulder ran around the room. This went on for several minutes and then saw Mulder, with one swift motion, thrust his sword into the sheriff's stomach. She saw him fall as the sword came out the other side of him, and knew that it was over. Mulder took in a few breaths and ran then ran over to Scully, who was leaning on the wall for support. "Scully!? Are you all right?" He asked. She didn't answer, she just grabbed him and fell into him. "You came for me." She said quietly. "Of course I came for you, I love you." Mulder said looking at her. He bent down to her and kissed her, with love and all the emotions that he had ever felt for her. "You'll never be alone, Mulder. You have me now." Scully said smiling. "I've always had you. No on can find the truth alone." Mulder said grinning. "Don't let go, ever." Scully pleaded, and he didn't. **************************************************************************** ******** Mulder awoke to the sound of his alarm clock. He slapped it with his hand. He opened his eyes slowly. He was in his apartment. He was back! He wasn't Robin Hood anymore. He looked down and saw that he was wearing the same thing that he remembered-flannel boxers. He turned to his side to go back to bed and noticed a figure lying next to him. He gently brushed the auburn hair away from her eyes. Wrapping his arms around her, he closed his eyes to go back to sleep. He had finally found love. THE END FEEDBACK!!!! PLEASE? : ' (
