Disclaimer: I'm not gonna bother making this part funny, if you want funny go read some humor. I don't own them. Somebody else does. Happy? Dedication: I wanna dedicate this to the authors of the two(yep, count 'em, *two*) fics I read that made me feel good all over. If I could remember who they were, I'd say. But I can't. If you wrote a feel-good fic, then you're them. Now on with the show. Scream It By Katherine Farley "What are we doing here again, Mulder?" Scully asked her partner of seven years. He just grinned as he took her by the hand, pulling her away from his car, which was parked on the outskirts of a huge empty field. "You'll just hafta wait an' find out, Scully." She sighed lightly at his grammer. Sometimes he could act like such a little kid. But she liked it. God help her, she liked it. They walked in silence for a few minutes, he never removed his hand from hers, although she was obviously following willingly. He had a silly grin plastered to his face, as though he knew a secret and was about to tell her. Which, yeah, well, he did and he was. He had shown up at her apartment unannounced, knocking on the door impatiently, and pulling her out to his car as soon as she opened it without even giving her a chance to get her coat. It wasn't very chilly out, just the light breeze of nighttime rustling the groves of trees surrounding the field they were trampling through. The grass paving the ground was tall and unruly, like no-one had had the presence of mind to cut it in years, which she assumed no-one had. This field was on the edge of town, her town, and there weren't any apartment buildings or offices around that area. Just a few random, small houses that were far enough away so their owners were unconcerned about the state of this abandoned field out in the middle of nowhere. "Here," he said to her with pride, like where they had stopped was some beautifuly romantic spot, instead of the middle of a field in the middle of nowhere. She looked at him strangely, raising an eyebrow, but he simply grinned at her and took her other hand, standing directly in front of her. "Mulder, what's so special about this field? It just looks like a field to me. Is it a UFO hotspot or something?" she inquired, as he continued to grin. "What--the field? No, nothing special. It's a field, Scully," he told her, looking slightly confused, but still wearing his enigmatically happy grin. "Then...why drag me all the way out here in the dead of night so impatiently that I had no time to even grab my coat out of the closet if it's just a field?" He looked at her like she was a bit crazy, which she supposed she was, following him out here like this. He shrugged. "It's not the field, Scully. This is just...the field is just where we are." "Exactly. Now *why* are we where we are when it's...what, 2:37 in the morning?" "Why? Why? Why?" "Why?" "Why. It's--Scully, it's just--oh, just forget the field! Forget it, it's not the field, it's not the field!" He sounded exhasperated, and looked impatient, yet he still grinned that little grin at her like nothing in the world was better than this, being in this empty field with her. "Then why are we here, Mulder?" She refused to appear mad, even if she eventually *got* mad. She was just...she just really wanted to know why he'd taken her here. "We're here because we need to be here, Scully. We *need* it. *I* need it. I hafta tell you." "Tell me what?" "That's what I'm getting at, Scully. Scully, we're here. This is it. This is all there is right now. Can you feel that?" "Feel what?" she asked him, beginning to get a little bit impatient at his cryptic remarks and answers. "That! Just--just being out here, alone, just you an' me, alone, you an' me always!" His grin had grown into a full-blown smile now, one that stretched across his face and made all her impatience and slight anger disappear with the wind. "I, um..." she began, not having the faintest idea exactly what he was talking about, but wanting to answer him. "Scully. What I came out here ta tell ya. I gotta do it now, Scully, or I won't be able to do it again ever. I gotta do it now. Scully, I love you. I love you so much it hurts sometimes. I love you, Scully, I love you, I do." His smile encapsulated his face now, and it was contagious. Scully looked at him with a look of honest shock and then broke into a similar grin. "Mulder, I--I love you too." "Say it loud, Scully. Really loud." "What?" "Yell it. Shout it. Scream it." "Mulder--" "Just do it, Scully. Just let go. Let go of every single thing you can think of to let go of and scream at the top of your lungs. Just do it." "Um...alright, Mulder...I love you!" she made an attempt to say it louder than she had before. "No, no, that's not it Scully. You're still holding on. You gotta give in, you gotta surrender. To everything, to it all. Gone. No work, no X-files, no cases, no Skinner, no quest, no conspiracy, no nothing but you an' me an' this field all alone in the world." Scully's smile grew as he said that, and she made another attempt to satisfy his request. "I love you!!!!" She shouted to the field and Mulder. He grinned again. "Louder." "I love you, Mulder!!!!!!!!!!!!" "Louder." She threw her head back and screamed as loud as she possibly could, "I LOVE YOU!!!!!" "I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!" "I LOVE YOU MULDER!" "SCULLY I LOVE YOU!" "I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Her last surrendering scream echoed throughout the abandoned field and he smiled, as did she. Still holding both her hands, he edged toward her until he was right up in front of her, his nose almost touching the bridge of her nose, as she wasn't wearing heels, but beat-up cross trainers. He grinned at the height difference and leaned his head down to her ear, and whispered. "I love you, Scully." He straightened up again to full height. Her grin widened, as did his, and she pulled his head down to hers and pressed her lips against his, hard. Her eyes slipped shut the same as his, and he put his hands in her hair. Neither could deepen the sweet kiss; they couldn't stop smiling long enough. all done. byebye. Didja like it? It was not even close to my first, but let's pretend it is and be gentle, kay? Groovy.
