Any takers? XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Maybe jail won't be so bad. Hell, I don't know. I did know what I was doing when I pulled the trigger. I'm willing to accept the consequences. Whatever I'm heading for, though, I hope I'm not going to do it alone. Maybe Mulder will stop by every now and then to talk. I never thought I would wish that. I've always tried to do things on my own terms without help from anyone. But Mulder...he understood me. His voice spoke to me with a kindness that was never condescending. Maybe I pushed away too many people in my life. Maybe I should have tried harder to find somone like... "You're at your best with people like her, Mulder." Shit! What the hell?! At first, I see a road and the dashboard of a car. Now my viewpoint is turning to the woman driving the car. I hear a voice say -- "What do you mean?" The voice is Mulder's and it's coming from where I can see. The woman driving has to be Scully. Huh. Nice-looking lady. "People like Marty Glenn...you have a very deep empathy for them." "And you don't?" For a moment, Scully seems uncomfortable. "Well...not like you." "First of all," Mulder says. "don't sell yourself short. Second of all, don't overestimate my empathy. I've been told I can be a pretty insensitive bastard on occasion." "Yes, you can." Yikes. I don't know how I'm able to see and hear this. Maybe it's some kind of leftover 'second sight.' Right now, though, I feel a lot more uncomfortable in what I'm observing than the act of observing. "However," Scully says. "when the chips are down, you can feel more deeply for another person than anybody I know." Mulder turns away to the rear-view mirror. Wow. Now there's a good-looking man. Right now, his handsome puss has this strange expression on it. He seems both pleased and uncomfortable. "And you can feel more deeply for a woman than any man I've ever met," Scully adds. Mulder is now looking at Scully. "Think so?" "Yes." "You mean, I've developed my feminine side very well." Scully rolls her eyes and smiles. "No. You're all guy, every inch of you." Whoa. "But you can approach a woman in a way that's honest and direct while remaining kind." Mulder looks back at the mirror. This time, his face is sad. "I haven't always been honest and direct with you," he says. "Or kind." For a long time, Scully is quiet. Then she says, "You're not perfect, Mulder. However...you are damn good." The viewpoint shifts back to Scully. Now she's looking at Mulder and there's such a gleam in her eye. Everything goes black for me. I sit in my cell and think -- Jesus, Mulder, tell me you didn't see that. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
