Smiling We are on a case. Some guy was murdered in a bank at night, withdrawing money from an ATM machine. Nothing to unusual for Scully and I. Nothing different from anything else that we've faced over the past seven years. But this case is different. Different in a way that has nothing to do with the actual case. This is our first case since we've become lovers. Our first case in which I can say I am having sex with my amazingly beautiful partner. My amazingly beautiful partner is inside the ATM vestibule. I can see her through the glass. She looks up from the corpse and smiles at me. Despite the grotesque looking corpse right in front of her, she is smiling. I know that she is smiling because of me. And I find myself smiling back at her, smiling because of her.
