For actually reading this. God! Are you messed up! Summer Filing "Jesus, why the hell is it so hot?" Mulder asked, to no one in particular. His partner happened to be the one to respond. "Because it's the middle of July, and this is D.C." "Well, yeah." He replied. "But still." He fanned himself with his makeshift fan he had made from one of the expense reports. "Mulder, where are the expense reports?" Scully said as she shifted through one of the filing cabinets. "Ah, I dunno Scully. I saw them over there." He said and pointed to the other side of the office, he continued to fan himself. "Can I turn on the radio Scully?" He asked lazily. "Yeah." She said absent-mindedly. He flicked the radio, switching through the stations. "Oooh! The Yankees vs. The Red Sox game!" "No, Mulder. If you're going to listen to the radio, you listen to music. Besides, you grew up on the Vineyard, so aren't you supposed to be a Red Sox fan?" "The Red Sox are great Scully, but I like the Yankees." "Whatever, as far as baseball goes, and I don't follow baseball, but when I do follow it, I like the Sox." She said as she continued to sort through the files. She pulled out a three-year-old bag of sunflower seeds and swung them in front of her partner's line of vision. "So, that's where those went!" He said snatching them from her and tossing them in the wastebasket. "Any longer in there Mulder, and they would have sprouted." "But they're baked and salted," he replied "They can't grow after that, and that's the point, they're for pure nutritional enjoyment." He said with a smug smile. She returned the smug smile, "Maybe we should start picking out china patterns." "Scully, only the best for you." He said popping a fresh seed into his waiting mouth. He shrugged the jacket off his shoulders and onto the back of his chair. The commercials faded away and the announcer came on. "Kiss 104.7, the best music in D.C., fifty minutes, commercial free. Na na now, on Kiss 104.7." "You listen to Kiss Mulder?" she said, turning slightly to catalogue his reaction. "This is the only station we can get in this basement, that isn't AM or country." He made a mock shiver at this and she smiled at him. "Gotta love that country." She replied sarcastically. He made a fake gagging sound. "* Even though the moment passed me by, I still can't turn away. You saw the dreams you never thought you'd lose get tossed along the way. Letters that you never meant to send get lost or blown away. *" "The Whozee, whatzees?" Mulder asked. "Who sings this again?" "Goo Goo Dolls." Scully said quietly, she had stopped rummaging and listened to the song. "I love this song, it was Charlie's wedding song. Huh." "Please, don't sing." He said playfully. She shot him a menacing glance and he just smiled back. She tossed a pencil at his head. It hit in the middle of his forehead. "Hey, Scully?" he said quietly. "Yeah?" she said meeting his eyes with her own. "Wanna dance?" he said extending his hand. "Mulder, we're at work, no." She said, an innocent smile creeping up on her lips. "Come on Scully." He said in his little boy voice. He shut the office door, and locked it. He then grabbed her hand and pulled her slightly into his arms. She tensed as he put his arm on the small of her back and the other around her waist. He began a slow shuffle and she shuffled closer to him. The resistance that once in her had melted away as soon as she was in his arms. She leaned her head on his chest, and tried to breathe him in. When she did this he smiled, and held her tighter. "* Scars are souvenirs you never lose, the past is never far. And did you lose yourself somewhere out there, did you get to be a star? Don't it make you sad to know that life is more than who we are? *" They danced. And danced. And didn't notice the lone pencil lying on the floor where it had fallen after colliding with Mulder's forehead. Mulder stepped back from Scully and looked into her eyes. Then he was on the floor. He had slipped on the pencil that she had thrown. Scully just looked at him and laughed. Not a Scully laugh, a real laugh. Mulder just stared at her and started laughing too. Then he pulled her by the hand down on the floor. He gently took her face in his hands and placed a soft kiss on her lips. She stared wide-eyed at him for a moment before speaking. "Files. I have to do the filing...now." She said and stood up, taking her previous spot in front of the cabinet. She peeked over her shoulder at Mulder, who was grinning at her from his position on the floor. She smiled back, not regretting what had just happened. "Give me some credit Scully, I thought it was pretty romantic." "Well, Mulder, maybe next time you won't have to fall on your ass to get a kiss from me." She said smugly. "What does my ass have to do then?" he asked dodging another pencil. End Goo Goo Dolls rock! Emperdocles in T-minus 2 hours, 47 minutes! And thirty seconds. Yay! WE LOVE DOGGETT!!!! (And TLG, don't take them off the air Carter!) Byers
