Oh yeah, sure that's what happened. That's *exactly* what happened. Every
detail...yeah.... except for the part where I confessed my love for my partner.
After he confessed his of course. I don't know, I guess that just happened to
slip my mind. I would never consciously lie to my superior. Not that he would
care if he knew what happened...

Mulder flopped down on the hotel bed in his room. He had a lot to think about.
Being attacked by a bunch of vampires with glowing green eyes has a tendency to
get one's mind going, and Mulder's mind was *swimming*. His mind had been going
nuts since he first saw Scully look at *him* that way! He had never seen Scully
flirt like that! Mulder rolled up in front of his mirror and looked at himself.
What did pretty-boy sheriff have that he didn't <Author's Note: NOT MUCH>? What
did Scully see in him that she couldn't see in Mulder?

About a year ago, Mulder had walked in on Scully about to kiss (or rather be
kissed by) "himself". She was looking at *him* with this look that traumatized
Mulder. She wasn't stopping the kiss, but she looked horrified. That event had
been the nail in the coffin (pardon the pun) for Mulder. He had had himself
convinced that it was wrong to make advances on his partner, no matter how much
his hormones begged him to do so. There had always remained a glimmer of hope
that someday he would tell her. But, when he saw that look on her face, he knew
that he couldn't.

A year had passed since that day, and Mulder's other head was doing the thinking
once again. Scully, the minute quantity of that drug that still coursed through
his system and that damn vibrating bed kept running through his mind. Impulsive
would best describe the following events. *Mulder* couldn't contain himself any
longer. Without knowing how he got there, he arrived at Scully's door, knocked
twice and waited.

Agent Scully threw herself on the bed and closed her eyes. They left Texas
tomorrow! Hopefully, they wouldn't be returning this time. The only good part of
this experience was that sheriff. Yeah, that sheriff who turned out to be a
vampire. *That* was the highlight of the trip.

She felt pretty bad about flirting so heavily with him, but after Dr. Bambi and
Detective White, Mulder had it coming! Why should she feel guilty about flirting
with an attractive man? An attractive man without buckteeth, for that matter!
She shouldn't! So why was she dwelling on it?

It was obvious enough to her. She was in love with Mulder, but since that could
never be, she needed to get her mind off of it. The fact that it was in front of
Mulder was just an added bonus. He had seemed a bit jealous, hadn't he? She
smiled inwardly and began to relax. Until she heard knocking. Groaning, she
stood up.

In a few seconds the beautiful little redhead opened the door. Before she knew
what was happening she was in his arms, lips locked with his, hands in his short
hair, feeling his on her back. There they stood for eternal moments, locked in
each other, trapped, but not wanting to escape. Scully pulled away and
breathlessly asked, "Why the hell didn't you ever do that before?"

Mulder smiled and kissed her again. "I don't know. I always wanted to."

"So have I, Mulder. When van Blundht tried to kiss me, I was ready to scream, my
heart was pounding so hard, except, on some level, I knew that it wasn't you."

"When I saw the look on your face, I decided not to try anything. You looked
horrified."

"He wasn't my Mulder, and I knew it. But I wanted to believe it so badly that I
guess I just let it go."

"Scully, has anyone ever told you how beautiful you are? Do you know that you
are the most beautiful creature on earth?"

Blushing as red as her hair, Scully shook her head and gave him a kiss full of
the fervor of years of repressed love and passion. She pulled him into her
apartment and looked into her eyes. Walking over to the bed, she deposited two
quarters and looked hungrily at him. "We have five years to make up for, and you
have a lot of innuendoes to make good on."

So, that was the way that it happened. Plain and simple, innocent and sweet. So
I forgot to tell Skinner, so what? What he doesn't know can't hurt him, right?
And it sure as hell can't hurt me, can it? I have Scully, and he doesn't have to
fire two of his best agents. Hey, all's well that ends well. Now, if you'll
excuse me, I have a very zealous woman to attend to.

End
