My sister, Sarah, has left me for her boyfriend named Adam. Anyway, since I don't have a boyfriend, I thought I'd do something. This is my pitiful attempt to have a life. !!! Disclaimer: Everyone from THE X FILES belongs to CC, FOX & 1013. Summary: Simple romance, Mulder wakes up, thinking of Scully. He goes over to her place and they..... X..........X..........X..........X..........X..........X M/S ROMANCE M/S ROMANCE X..........X..........X..........X..........X..........X Mulder tossed and turned, he could hear her screaming..... but he couldn't get to her! His eyes snapped open and sat up in his bed. He actually slept in his bed instead of the sofa, and he didn't have the dream about his sister. This nightmare was about Scully. He sighed and got his sweat soaked body off the bed. A shower, he needed a warm shower. He stripped off his boxers as he made his way to the bathroom, letting the cold night are caress his skin. He was exhausted. The first time he tries to get some sleep he had a heart stopping nightmare! He let the warm water wash over his skin, his thoughts returning to the fading dream. Cancerman had her. He took her away, she was screaming. He shuddered. He couldn't lose Scully to Cancerman or anyone else. He *wouldn't* loose her. He got out of the shower and wrapped a towel around his waist, then walked into the living room. Hours later he was still awake. He wanted to sleep, he felt tired. But the images of his nightmare returned and his eyes would snap open. He thought about her, his red head partner. The short young woman who could intimidate men twice her size..... usually him. The woman who would snap him back to sanity. Insanity.... he remembered a poem he read a few weeks ago. He got up from his sofa and picked out the book. He found the poem: A WALL OF GLASS by Sarah Rizvi There is a wall of glass between sanity and insanity. This wall can be shattered so fast it would make your head spin! And all that seemed clear, Will seem hazy. All that was fact, Will go into fiction. The sane will become insane and nothing will *be* the same! To look through the glass, To get a glimpse at the other side, Is an idea not to be thought. Not to be acted upon. There is a wall of glass between sanity and insanity. He let out a sigh. Fox Mulder could get really weird some times, but Dana Scully was always there to bring him back. If she was gone, or had never showed up, he would be in institution by now! He thought of all the times when she had helped him, saved him. And all the times when she jeopardized her career for him. He fell back onto the sofa, wearing nothing but the towel. Scully. Dana Scully. Dana Katherine Scully. Dana Katherine Scully Mulder. WHERE DID THAT COME FROM? He sat up, "Dana Katherine Scully.....Mulder." he laughed at himself. He had to admit it, he did the dumbest thing he could ever do. He fell in love. With his partner! The one woman he couldn't have. All the women in the world, he fell for the short red head he worked with, but it made sense. She understood him, she respected him, she was nice to him, she gave him time and space. He laughed at himself again, but his laugh soon became cries. He looked up towards the heavens. "Why me? Why her? Why us?" Scully walked into her bedroom. It was early in the morning, she wasn't feeling well. It was more mental than physical. She didn't know what was bothering her, but she relaxed her muscles. Without thinking, she picked up a photo of Mulder she kept at her desk. The two of them together in front of FBI head quarters smiling. He actually looked happy, his arm on her back. She sighed, why did she always feel a stab in her soul when she looked at him in this photo? He was never really happy like that. Hardly ever. He had lost his child hood when Samantha disappeared, his adult life was dedicated to finding her. She remembered when she was younger, in her late teens. Waiting for her soul mate. A friend had told her "everyone has half a soul, you know. And when you find your soul mate, they have the other half. Totally compatible with your own half of a soul.... you know how you know they're your soul mate? She hadn't listened to the rest of what her friend was saying, she wished she had. She and Mulder didn't have normal lives, they never would. Would they? She never regretted any second with him, though. Never. Mulder felt anxious. He wasn't sure why. He could see her face, but she wasn't really there. He moaned and walked into the bedroom. He would have to see her tonight before he did anything else. He couldn't call her, he'd wake her up. He'd just use his key and sneak into her apartment and get a glimpse. She looked peaceful in her sleep. Half an hour later he was standing outside her apartment door. He turned the door knob and stepped inside. SHE WAS AWAKE. She whirled around, "MULDER!" He put up his hands, "Sorry, didn't want to wake you!" Her hand flew to her heart, "You scared me to death! What are you doing here?" OOPS! He would have to explain himself. "Well, I had a nightmare." he sounded like a child running into his parents room in the middle of the night. "Nightmare?" "I know, I could have just called, but I had to see you instead." "Sit down, whets wrong?" He bit his lower lip, sitting down next to her. "It was a nightmare about you. All I could hear were the screams." Fox Mulder was usually braver than that. But here he was, three in the morning, running to her because of a nightmare. She felt another jab at her heart, she thought her own son would do that some day, but she a son didn't look likely at this point in time. "You had a nightmare and some one was screaming?" "No, you were screaming. And I couldn't help you. It scared the shit out of me." She took his hand, "I'm right here Mulder, you can see that for yourself." He had to hold her, to make sure she was really there. He wasn't sure how she would react, but he did it. Taking her into his arms, he held her tight. "I'm sorry for everything I ever did to you or was responsible for. he whispered against her hair. She pulled back, "You haven't done anything. "If I had you transferred the fist week you were working with me, you wouldn't have half the troubles you have now. She couldn't help but smile, "Wouldn't trade any second working with your for anything. I accept you, Mulder, for all your faults and demons and mood swings. "You're the only one who does. he answered hugging her again. She was suddenly hit with a realization. She remembered her friend, who had talked about soul mates. She felt whole when Mulder was near her, and holding him like this, she felt as if they were one. She sighed happily, she wanted him to hold her forever. Was she ready to step over the imaginary line between friends and loves? Was he? What would happen? Too many questions, she didn't want to think about it. He loved to hold her, which was rare. He loved the feel of her in his arms, he loved..... her. She was probably the only person in the vast Universe who understood him. Who could handle him! a voice in his head sang. He pulled away from her, "I have to tell you something." "Tell me.' He took a deep breath, this was probably the most important day of his life, and if it wasn't, it would rank up there. "Guess what, Scully. "What? "I love you." he said simplify. Her mouth opened in a gasp but before she could say anything, he moved forward and pressed his lips against hers. It was a slow and sensual kiss, lingering. He could feel her arms tighten around him and his heart soared. "I love you, too. she grinned. Scully's eyes snapped open as he stood in front of her. "I had a bad dream." his lower lip quivered. She took him into her arms, "Want to sleep with me in my bed?" she asked. He nodded, crawling up next to her. Between his parents. His father rolled over, "Will, what happened?" he asked half asleep. "Just a bad dream." Scully said as she wrapped an arm around her son. Mulder did the same, holding him. "There are no monsters here, Will. Mommy fights them." He heard her laugh, "I fight them?" He nodded, "You have this thing, my nightmares stopped after we got married." "You had nightmares, Daddy?" Will asked. "Really bad ones." "Mommy makes them go away?" "Yup." "Don't tell him that, I don't really make nightmares go away." she let out a soft sleepy sigh. William Samuel Mulder slept easy that night. Because he was in the safest place he knew, between his parents. X..........X..........X..........X..........X..........X..........X How as it? First time without Sarah, I'm a bit timid. She's the brains of this operation. Tell me what you think. husain@hevanet.com
