Sooo...not mine, CC and 10-13, don't sue, I have nothing. Notes: M/S UST, just a smidgen I stared at the man in chains. I thought of the milagro, still in my desk at the office. Another voice spoke. Mulder, my mind identified. He handed the other man a package. My analytical mind yet again supplied the correct adjectives: 'plastic' and 'covered'. Mulder said "Mr. Padgett...you can go. We apologize for our mistake. You're free to finish your book." Book? How could he finish the book when life was never done? When his medium would never die? "Thank you." Padgett walked partway out of the cell. I was suddenly anxious for him to leave, for him to stay, at the same time. I had countless questions for him, yet I feared the answers. He turned toward us and said with a strange look in his eyes, "I made a mistake myself." Curiously, Mulder asked "What's that, Mr. Padgett?" Quickly, in his odd manner of speaking, Padgett explained. "In my book, I'd written that Agent Scully falls in love. But that's obviously impossible." He looked directly at Mulder as he spoke. "Agent Scully is already in love." He turned and walked off down the hall, the guard following his steps. I watched him go in amazement. How could he know a truth which I hadn't acnowledged yet, hadn't even dreamed of? And how could I ignore it now?
