Summary: Mulder and Scully reassigns their twins, Fox Jr. and Dana, to different sections. However, Fox Jr. wants to contact an extraterrestial to prove that aliens do exist. ------------------------------------------ A TWIST OF LITTLE GREEN MEN Written by: Erin M. Blair ------------------------------------------ Fox Mulder Jr.'s Apartment Alexandria, VA Wednesday, 11:21 p.m. "Dana, it's me. I need to talk to you," Fox William Mulder Jr. sighed into the phone. He couldn't sleep and he was sitting on his coach, watching television. He was distraught since he received the phone call from their father about separating them after the Purity Control case. "What about?" Dana asked, in an exhausted voice. She was in bed wearing a blue silk nightgown. It was a long case. Their source was dead, and their parents, Fox Mulder and Dana Scully-Mulder, were upset with the twins. "We're out of the X-Files, Dana," Fox Jr. replied. His voice was cracking with sorrow. "They transferred us to different sections." "What are we going to do?" Dana asked, concerned. "I don't know," Fox Jr. replied. "All I know is that I can't stop searching for the truth." "I know," Dana sighed. "I think that you meant "we can't stop looking for the truth." You have to remember that this isn't just your holy grail to find the answers. It's mine too." "Somehow, I just knew that you were going to remind me," Fox Jr. sighed. "I'll talk to you tomorrow," Dana replied. She told her brother goodbye, and hung up the phone. Dana and Fox Mulder's Residence Annapolis, MD Wednesday, 11:21 p.m. "Fox, are you sure that we are doing the right thing?" Dana Scully-Mulder asked, as she snuggled next to her husband, Fox Mulder, in bed. "About Fox and Dana." "I think that we are," Mulder replied. "They have to realise that the last case was a little dangerous." "Honey, all of their cases are a little dangerous," Scully sighed. "That's just a fact of life." She paused. "I know that this case that they had worked on brought out so many fears from our own "Purity Control" case..." FBI Headquarters Assistant Director Skinner's Office Thursday, 9:00 a.m. "Agent Dana Mulder and Agent Fox Mulder Jr. are here to see you, Sir," Kimberly said into the intercom. "Send them in," replied AD Walter Skinner. He looked as the twins walked into the office. He was always amazed of how much they looked like their parents when they were young. "Thanks for coming by. Your parents wanted me as your godfather and your Assistant Director to tell you the reassignment. Your parents felt that both of you would be so angry at them that they didn't want to tell you about the reassignment," Skinner sighed. "Sir, what is the reassignment?" Dana asked. "It's not like they are closing the X-Files Divison." "No, your parents and I would never want to close the X-Files Divison," Skinner replied. "Dana Mulder, you are going to go back to teaching forensic pathology at Quantico." "I guess that it's not that bad," Dana replied. She looked at her brother. "What about Fox?" "Your father wanted him to be assigned some surveillance work for the next two weeks, and then he wants him to be assigned back to the X-Files Divison." "Surveillance work?" Fox Jr. repeated. "He's got to be kidding." He remembered how his father told him how much he hated surveillance work. "That's what he said," Skinner replied. "I think that he wants to strengthen your character as a FBI agent." He added. "Be thankful that you didn't lose the X-Files like your parents did." The twins walked out of the office, and headed towards the basement office. "Fox, where are we going?" "The basement office," Fox Jr. sighed. "We need to talk." X-Files Basement Office Five Minutes Later "We must assume that we are being watched," Fox Jr. sighed. "I can't believe that this is happening, Dana. I may have temporarily lost the X-Files---" "Mom and Dad haven't closed down the X-Files, Fox. They just reassigned us to different areas," Dana sighed. "It's not like it was with Mom and Dad when they were young. They are trying to test us. Trying to see if we are a good team." "We're twins, Dana. We are the perfect team," Fox Jr. sighed. "This doesn't make sense." "It does," Dana replied. "I am sure that they have good reason to do what they did." She paused. "Fox, I think that I know why!" "Why?" Fox Jr. asked. "I hope that you have a good theory because for once in my life, I don't have one." "Not just a theory, Fox. It's a logical explanation. Mom and Dad had the same case long time ago..." Fox Jr. interrupted her. "And the X-Files were closed by the higher ups, and they were separated." "Right," Dana replied. "Mom and Dad were assigned elsewhere. Alex Krycek was assigned Dad's new partner for the case where a Vietnamese veteran was sleep deprived and was killing people..." "I know that, Dana," Fox Jr. replied. "And I know for a fact that Chris Krycek likes you. He told me so." "That's nice," Dana answered. She blushed, and then she continued. "There's more to this. The X-Files reopened when Mom was abducted by Duane Barry, and Dad was devastated. He looked for her at Skyland Mountain but he was too late. Mom was returned at the hospital where we were born..." "I think that I know what you are getting at," Fox Jr. replied. "You do?" Dana asked, quizzically. "Mom and Dad wanted us to feel their pain, their suffering and bring us closer together," Fox Jr. answered. "They wanted us to experience this separation." "Maybe that's the reason," Dana replied. "It sounds like it could be." "What are we going to do?" Fox Jr. asked. He was sitting behind his desk watching his twin walk around looking at the file cabinets. "I don't know. I guess that we have to be apart for awhile," Dana sighed. "I am going to miss being your partner." "It could have been worse. A lot worse, you know," Fox Jr. replied. He paused. "What I regret is that I don't have the evidence... You know, contact." "Are you serious?" Dana asked. "Yes," Fox Jr. replied. "You can't be serious, Fox!" Dana exclaimed. "We've been down that road so many times." "Not enough for us to find real evidence," Fox Jr. replied. "I want to see this for myself." Senator Robert Matheson's office Senate Building Washington DC Friday, 10:00 a.m. "I'm sorry about everything," Fox Jr. sighed. "I know how you supported me through the years." "And I will continue to support you and your family in any way that I can," Senator Matheson replied. "I do have some information for you though." "What is it?" Fox Jr. asked, as he sat down on the chair. "What you want most of all. Contact," Senator Matheson replied. "Some recent UFO sightings have been happening in Puerto Rico. You have 48 hours until the military goes in." "Thank you, Senator," Fox Jr. replied. "You're welcome, Agent Mulder." Fox Mulder Jr.'s Apartment Alexandria, VA Friday, 1:00 p.m. Fox Jr. was writing an e-mail to his sister. "Dana, I will be leaving for awhile to Puerto Rico on a mission. Whatever you do, don't tell Mom and Dad. They wouldn't understand. Love, Fox." He knew that his sister would be worried about him as they shared a close bond with one another. He packed his duffel bag with a tape recorder and his clothes, and he left his apartment for the airport. Dana and Fox Mulder's Residence Annapolis, MD Friday, 6:00 p.m. Scully walked into the den that she shared with her husband, and she saw him looking concerned at a piece of e-mail. "What's wrong?" Mulder looked up from the e-mail and saw his wife. "Dana, did you look at your e-mail this evening?" "No. I was making dinner," Scully replied. "Why?" "It's from Skinner." "What's it about? If its about our case report, I did e-mail him about it," Scully answered. "No, Dana. It's not about that. It's about Fox Jr." "What did he do?" Scully asked, concerned. She sat down at the chair besides her husband. She had her own desk, but she grabbed the closest thing. "He hasn't reported to his surveillance duty," Mulder replied. He saw his wife's arched her eyebrows in disbelief, and he smiled at her. "I know what are you thinking, Dana..." "I can't believe that you assigned him surveillance work, Fox. You know that he hates it as much as you do." "I know that," Mulder sighed. "At least, it's safer." He paused. "I think that we have to ask Dana to find him." "All right," Scully sighed. "I'll call her." She picked up the phone, and called her daughter. Dana Mulder's Apartment Annapolis, MD Same day and time Dana got out of the shower and was drying her auburn hair as she heard her answering machine pick up, "Hi. This is Dana Mulder, and I can't come to the phone right now." "Dana?" Scully inquired. "It's your Mom." Dana picked up the phone, and sighed. "I stepped out of the shower. What is it?" "It's your brother," Scully replied. "He disappeared." "Did some alien abduct him?" Dana asked, jokingly. "He probably want to skip surveillance duty." "I think that you should find him, Dana," Scully replied. "I would try to get all flight manifestos first and check your e-mail." "All right," Dana sighed. "I will." "I'll talk to you later," Scully replied, as she disconnected her cell phone. The phone rang again, and Dana answered it. "Dana Mulder." "Dana, it's me." Sure enough, it was her twin brother. "Fox! Where are you?" Dana exclaimed into her telephone. "Do you realise what you had done?" "I am at the airport," Fox Jr. replied, ignoring her question. He was at the pay phone at Washington DC airport. "Don't follow me, Dana." "You really amaze me, Fox. You are just like Dad," Dana sighed. "You are going to get into big trouble." "I don't care," Fox Jr. replied. "I'll talk to you later, Dana." He put the receiver down. Dana Mulder's Office FBI Academy Quantico, VA Monday, 9:30 a.m. "Dana Mulder?" Chris Krycek inquired. Dana looked up, and she smiled at the young, tall, wavy, brown haired FBI agent. She remembered him from the time that he had helped out at the X-Files Division when a fellow agent was sick. "Hello, Chris." She paused. "I am sorry that I was so spaced out. My brother decided to ditch his new assignment." "That's why I am here," Chris replied. "I have those manifestos for you to find him." "Who gave you these?" Dana asked. "My father. You know he runs a detective agency, and he got word of what had happened through your parents. He wanted me to give you these," Chris replied. He handed her a manilla envelope. "I thought it would help." "I am sure that it will," Dana replied. "Thank you." "You're welcome, Dana," Chris answered. "Um, I was wondering if..." "If what?" Dana asked. "Would you like to have dinner and a movie sometime?" Chris asked. "I would love to," Dana replied. "What movie?" "Oh, this movie about two FBI agents looking for aliens," Chris answered. "It's supposed to be very good. The U-Files Fight The Future movie." "I was going to see that with my parents," Dana replied. "I would love to go with you." She paused. "My brother, David, is in it." "We're going to have a good time, Dana," Chris replied, smiling. "Your brother is in it?" "Yes, he is," Dana smiled. "Mom and Dad were shocked when David got the role of the FBI agent." She paused. "He plays a believer like Fox." "I can't wait to see it," Chris replied. "I think that we are going to have a great time..." "I hope so," Dana answered. She was very happy that Chris had asked her out on the date. She decided to change the subject back to her brother, Fox. "Let's take a look at these flight manifestos." "Do you have any idea what name he would be under?" Chris asked, as he took a look of the names. "I have a clue," Dana sighed. "There are some names that my darling brother would use." She scanned the names for a W. F. M. Luder. "Find a flight that has a W. F. M. Luder on it. Ok, Chris?" They spent fifteen minutes looking over the flight manifestos until Dana spotted her brother under a flight to Puerto Rico. "I found him. He went to Arecibo, Puerto Rico." "Why would he go there?" Chris asked. "For contact with extraterrestials," Dana answered. "Fox wants to see these little green men." "Aren't they really gray?" Chris asked. "That's what your brother told me. Of course, I would have thought that you knew that." "I do know that, but everyone thinks that they are green anyway," Dana sighed, shrugged. "It's just a losing battle anyway." "It must be," Chris smiled. "I think that you should go to Puerto Rico to bring back Fox. Alone." "Alone?" Dana asked. "You can't be serious!" "Look, Dana, you know that he will have a dozen FBI agents on his trail by ditching his assignment. You have to bring him back safe and sound. Who knows what will happen to him?" Chris replied. "I think that you are right," Dana replied. "I'll book a flight for Puerto Rico then." Dana and Fox Mulder's Office X-Files Divison Same day and time "When Fox gets back, I think that we have to put him back to the X-Files Divison," Mulder replied. He was sitting at his desk, and looking up at his wife who was finishing up the paperwork. "I thought that you want to teach him a lesson," Scully replied. "I know what I said, but I think that he already learned his lesson in trusting a partnership. Fox and Dana were very good partners, but I think that we should assign someone else," Mulder sighed. "Someone else?" Scully asked. "Who do you have in mind, Fox?" "Dana's best friend, Danielle Lesky," Mulder answered. "She's a forensic pathologist and she is currently teaching forensic medicine at Quantico. Just like Dana. She looks so much like her." "I know who you mean," Scully replied. "She look so much like me. I think that she would be a good partner." Dana Mulder's Apartment Annapolis, MD Monday, 11:21 a.m. Dana walked into her apartment, and she gasped to see her best friend, Danielle Lesky. "Danielle, what are you doing here?" She looked at the similar looking auburn haired and blue-green eyed young woman sitting on the sofa. "I thought that you might want me to take care of your apartment while you are at Puerto Rico," Danielle replied, smiling. "Who told you?" Dana asked. "Chris told me in the hall," Danielle smiled. "Did you say yes?" "Yes, I did," Dana replied. She sat down on the sofa. "He told you about Fox, right?" "Chris told me that he wants to see some extraterrestials, and you have to go to Puerto Rico to get him," Danielle replied. "I have some news to tell you. I am going to be your brother's new partner." "How do you know?" Dana asked. "I heard it through the grapevine," Danielle replied. "Your parents want me to see them as soon as Fox gets back." The Contact Site Arecibo, Puerto Rico Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. Fox Jr. got out his tape recorder, and began talking. "Dana, so far, I hadn't seen anything yet. They may have separated us, but they can't break our bond." He heard something outside, and he placed the tape recorder down on a table as he went to investigate it. He saw a white light coming from behind the trees. He knew that it was contact. Suddenly, he was scared. Scared that he might get taken. He picked up his tape recorder, and pressed the record button. "I have seen a white light, Dana. Pure white. I am scared. I don't know why I'm scared. I don't want them to take me." He thought that he saw an alien in the doorway, and he felt so scared that he had collapsed from exhaustion. The Contact Site Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. Fox Jr. opened his hazel eyes and saw a familiar female standing over him. "Dana?" "It's me," Dana answered. "You passed out. I came in here half an hour ago. I took a late night flight to get here. Chris arranged everything. I used an assumed name "K.D. M. Luder" for fear that they might find out." "That explains it," Fox Jr. sighed, exhausted. "I saw it, Dana." "You saw it?" "I was scared that they might take me away from you...and our family. I didn't want anything to happen to me," Fox Jr. replied. "And I especially didn't want you to go through what happened to Dad when he lost Aunt Samantha when they were kids." "What happened to Dad was terrible, but you are forgetting that Aunt Samantha is back. She's safe. She's married and has children who are our cousins," Dana replied. She was trying to choose her words carefully. "Fox, that's in the past. We are the future. Mom and Dad had told us this many times that they are counting us to be the future of the X-Files Divison." "If you are forgetting, Dana. We are out of the X-Files Divison," Fox Jr. replied. He saw his twin grin. "We're not out.." "Oh, I am still at Quantico, but you are back in," Dana replied. "But you're getting a new partner." "I am?" Fox Jr. asked. "Yes," Dana replied. She heard some military trucks outside. "Fox?" "Yes?" "Let's get out of here!" Dana exclaimed, as she watched her brother grab his tape recorder and his tote bag. They raced out of the building and headed towards the truck that Fox Jr. had brought cleverly eluding the military. FBI Headquarters J. Edgar Hoover Building X-Files Divison Dana and Fox Mulder's Office Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. Scully sat down at her desk while watching Mulder looking over their son's personal file. She saw her husband smiling, and she wondered why he was so happy. thought Scully. "What is it?" Mulder put down his son's personal file on his desk, and he looked at his wife. "Our son reminds me so much of myself." "I know," Scully replied. They heard a knock on the door, and Fox Jr. walked in. "I'm back." Scully got up from her desk, and walked towards her son. "We were worried about you..." "I know," Fox Jr. replied. "Dana told me." "You also ditched surveillance duty," Mulder replied to his lookalike son. "Dad, so did you. You told me that you hated it," Fox Jr. replied. "Senator Matheson wanted me to find what I always wanted to see. Contact. When I got to the site, I saw it. I was so scared, Mom and Dad. I didn't want them to take me like they did with Aunt Samantha..." He looked at his father. "I didn't want Dana to go through when Mom was taken. I guess that I was so scared that I passed out." "Just like I did," Mulder replied. "There will be other opportunities for you. You'll see." "Dana saved my life," Fox Jr. replied. "Just like how I saved your father's life," Scully reflected, as she looked at her husband and then at her son. "I feel bad for what we had done. We were scared for both you and your sister. I forgot what was like to be away from the X-Files, and I wanted the both of you to be safe. Will you forgive us, Fox?" Mulder sighed, looking at his son. "Yes," Fox Jr. replied. "Your father and I decided that you are going back to the X-Files Divison. We talked it over with AD Skinner, and he agreed that we get the honors to assign you a partner. It's not going to be Dana, but Special Agent Danielle Lesky, MD. She's a pathologist," Scully replied. "Like your sister and myself. She has been teaching forensic medicine at Quantico, and she is your sister's best friend." "I knew that name is familiar. Danielle? Isn't she very skeptical like Dana?" Fox Jr. asked his parents. "So?" Scully asked, smiling. "There's nothing wrong with that." "Besides, you have known her for a long time," Mulder replied. "I want you to treat her with respect." "All right," Fox Jr. replied. "I will. I'll see you later." "She is going to meet you at your basement office," Scully replied. "I'll see you later." "Fox?" Mulder asked. His son turned around. "Yes, Dad?" "I'm proud of you. Welcome back," Mulder replied. "Thanks, Dad," Fox Jr. answered as he walked out of their office. X-Files Basement Office Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. Fox Jr. walked into the basement office, and sat behind his desk. He smiled, and he put on his glasses. He heard a knock, and called out. "Nobody down here except for the FBI's most unwanted!" Danielle Lesky walked into the door. "Hi Fox." She was a beautiful young woman with auburn hair and blue-green eyes. "Even though I know you from Dana, I thought that I would be professional to introduce myself. I'm Danielle Erin Lesky, and I am your new partner." "Hi Danielle," Fox Jr. replied. "Welcome to the X-Files." "Thank you," Danielle replied.
