Mulder said, finally letting out the words that he couldn't let out in Kersh's office. Scully attempted to resist a smile and crossed her arms across her chest. Mulder stopped smiling and looked at his shoes. "You *are* happy about this, aren't you Scully?" She finally smiled. "Yes, Mulder, of course I am." "Good! Well then let's celebrate! I'm tired of cleaning toilet bowls for a living." "What? Are we going to order Thai, Mulder?" Scully said, teasing him. Mulder flashed her a big grin. "Sure, if you want to. Actually, I was thinking about having a drink or two. Care to join me?" Scully hesitated, then smiled. "Sure. Meet you at the 'Lil Alien Bar at 8:00. Sharp." "See ya," he said, and walked toward his car. ***********************AT THE LIL' ALIEN BAR, 7:56 P.M.************************ Mulder walked in to the bar and looked around for Scully. After giving every booth a quick glance, he sat down at the bar. The bartender immediately greeted him. "So what will it be?" "Oh, not yet. I'm waiting for someone," Mulder said, his eyes focused on the door. He glanced at his watch. 7:58. "She should be here any minute," he mumbled. After playing with his napkin for what seemed like a century, the door opened, and Scully entered the bar. She didn't even take the time to look around. She knew exactly where he was. "Hey," she said, and walked over to him. "Hey, Scully. What would you like?" "Oh, umm... whatever you're having." She flashed him a half-smile and sat down next to him on the bar stool. "Okay bartender... two scotches, one ice cube." He glanced at scully, looking for any trace of hesitation. But she just looked at the bartender and swept her hair back with her fingers. Mulder took his drink and Scully took hers. "Do you want a booth or is it okay here?" He said, standing up. "Um, I kind of prefer a booth. Do you mind?" "No, no, not at all," he said, and motioned towards a clean booth in the back of the bar. Mulder took off his jacket and hung it up on a hook. Scully kept her coat on and sat down. She inched towards the window and put her scotch down on her napkin. They were speechless for a few minutes. Mulder chewed on the inside of his lip and stared at his drink while Scully tapped on the glass with her nails. "Well," Mulder said, desperate for conversation,"We got the X-Files back." Scully put her hands in her lap and licked her lips. "So I've heard." Mulder smiled, and raised his glass. Scully raised one eyebrow and did the same. "To the X-Files," he said, and gazed at Scully. "To the X-Files," she repeated, and put the glass to her lips. They both took a gulp and then set it down on the table. "Ahhh," Mulder said. Scully smiled. She began to feel lightheaded. "You ok, Scully?" "Fine," she said, her lips curved into the slightest smile. He smiled and sat back against the booth. "You know, I never realized how much the X-Files meant to me until it was gone." He paused for a minute, and his smile disappeared. Scully looked down at her hands and sighed. "Well, at least we don't have to do any tedious background checks anymore." Mulder looked out the window. "Hmph." He took another gulp of his scotch. She did the same. Scully licked her lips and swept back a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "I really did miss the X-Files, Mulder. Even if I didn't show it." "I know, Scully, I know. But even though we got the X-Files back, Skinner is still gone. I miss the old guy." "Yeah... he was a great A.D. Even if he was a jerk sometimes. He saved our butts more times than I can count." She laughed a little bit, then slouched against the corner of the booth. Mulder smiled. The alcohol seemed to be taking its toll. She was opening up now. They talked and chatted about the X-Files and about Skinner and drank the rest of their scotch. It seemed like hours. Mulder glanced at his watch. 10:16. "Whoa, Scully, it's getting a little late. We should be getting home. You look exhausted." She nodded, and stretched her arms. Mulder left the money on the table and took her hand. Surprised, she looked up at him and smiled: a genuine Scully smile. He couldn't help it. He smiled back. They walked out the door and stood against the cold brick wall, their breath forming steam against the frigid night air. "Okay, Mulder, I guess I will... see you tomorrow." Mulder lifted himself from the wall and ran his fingers through his hair. "Okay." "Bye." "Bye." They took one step back, but her hand was still in his. They gazed at one another, like they did not want to leave. "Scully?" "What, Mulder?" He took one step towards her and placed his hand on her cheek. A rush of emotions flooded to Scully's head as her eyes filled with tears. She moistened her lips and put her hand gently on his shoulder. He slowly wrapped his hand around her hip and leaned in towards her. They were so close that he could feel her breath on his lips. She closed her eyes and let the hot tears trail down her cheek. He ran his thumb across her cheek, wiping the tear away. Finally their lips brushed against each other. He took a deep breath and pressed his lips against hers. He kissed her with a passion and tenderness that made her heart ache. She wrapped her hand around his neck and opened her lips. His tongue entered her, ever so gently, ever so slowly. Their tongues explored each others mouths, their passion growing with every new move. Finally, he pulled away a bit, his lips still lingering on hers. They parted, and then wrapped their arms around each other, Scully crying softly into his shoulder. His eyes filled with tears as he pulled Scully away from him and lifted her face with both hands. She raised one hand and put it over his. "Scully..." "Mulder?" she said, her voice quavering. "Scully, I have wanted to do that for... for the longest time." He held back a rush of tears and sighed. "Scully, I... I love you." She kissed his forehead and held him close to her. "Mulder, I love you too." He lifted his lips to hers once more and kissed her deeply, passionately. She gave in to her emotions and held him tightly as they kissed, letting out the intense feelings of love and emotion that they had held in for so long. He pulled away from her and kissed her cheek lightly. "Mulder, we have to go," she said, looking away. "I know, I know." They both knew if they stayed much longer they would never leave. "See you tomorrow, Mulder," Scully said, stepping backwards. He kissed her once more on the lips and then wiped away her tears with his thumbs. "Bye, Dana." **********************************THE END*****************************************
