I'm not sure what your guidelines are, or if this is any good, but I thought I would send it out, if anything just to get some feedback. Thanks for your time in reading it, that is, if you even read it.. Oh, and it doesn't have title, yet.. Take Care, RavenL4 _____________________ "I'm not going anywhere." it was a statement of simple fact, made with an unquestionably amount of stubbornness. It was said with such sound authority, that no one dared to tell him otherwise. Fox Mulder sat slumped in a hospital chair next to where his partner lay. It has been just a few hours that she was released from the ER. She had taken a gun shot to her left shoulder and another that grazed her head. She had been lucky, as always. The nurses would come in and out to check on her frequently, but she was still not out of the woods, so to speak. Among the hospital staff were whispers not necessarily about her as it was about him, agent Fox Mulder. One of the nurses who just got on duty asked what was all the gossip about. To which she was told the following story. There was nothing unusual about the scene. After all, they see this every day, gun shot wounds were nothing remarkable. She came in by ambulance, and Mulder was with her each step of the way. There was blood on his white shirt, and his tie crooked. He stood helpless as the medics started to work on her. And this is where the story gets interesting. There was a man who also came rushing into ER, asking about the woman who was just brought in, Agent Dana Scully. When Mulder saw him, he became violent screaming "You bastard, get the hell away from her, you did this, how could you do this to your sister?!" He shoved this guy against the wall and pulled his gun on him. "I should shoot you now, you worthless piece of shit, but they might be able to save you." They were both promptly escorted outside. We asked around to see what else had happened, and this is what nurse Fleming told Doctor Connor. That the man who came in was Scully's brother, Bill Scully. There was a third man also who appeared on the scene, by the name of Skinner. This Skinner guy acted like the mediator between the other two. He was saying "Mulder let me handle him, I'll bring him in for questioning, you need to calm down, you are not helping the situation, do you hear me agent Mulder?" "Yeah, I hear you, but if she dies, so help me, there won't be a thing to stop me from..." "That's enough Agent" Skinner interrupted The next thing we know is that Mulder walked back into ER, and asked about Dana Scully. It was a mad house, and we were busy, and just couldn't really answer him, and he just started screaming "Where is Agent Dana Scully, someone tell me what the hell is going on here! Can someone tell me, anyone, damn it!" It was Elise who went up to him and told him that they were operating on her now, that she had two gun shots one to the left shoulder, and one that appeared to have just grazed her head, but she lost a lot of blood. And he just stood there, his hand covering his mouth, his eyes closed, and he seemed to just stumble back a few steps. Elise asked if he was ok, and directed him to a chair to sit down in. And he sat in that chair for the whole entire time she was in operation. Some of us asked if he needed anything, and he just shook his head no. When she was released, and put into a room, he finally got out of that damn chair, and went into her room. He just stood over her, looking down at her, and he pulled up another chair right next to her bed, and sat down in it. You know the policy, that the patient can not be disturbed, so we tried to get him out of the room, but he would not go. He just said flatly, "I'm not going anywhere." Really, it was all just amazing. The group of nurses agreed, and looked in on Mulder still slouched in his blood stained shirt, now holding his partners hand. There were some smiles along the women; the knowing kind of smiles. No man would be that devoted and loyal to a woman unless he loved her. A brief thought entered their heads of what these two must have been through, and some of them envied that kind of relationship. So they let him stay with her, even though it broke 'procedure.' Besides, they couldn't get him to leave her, and truth was, they didn't want him to leave her. 24 hours later "You are awake." Mulder said with a smile, as he stiffly got out of the chair. His hand lightly touching hers. "You had me a little scared." "Mulder..?" Scully choked out "What happened?" Mulder paused, and licked his dry lips, and wondered how he could tell her, and decided that he would just tell her later. "You've been shot once in your left shoulder, and another that just grazed the top of your head. You are going be fine. Doctor says." He could see her trying to understand what he said, and he was just waiting for the question that was inescapable. "But, who shot me, I..I.. Oh God." Her eyes closed, and stayed closed for a few minute "Scully? Do you remember?" And all the while he prayed that she didn't. When she finally opened her eyes, he saw his answer in them, she knew. "No, it must be a mistake, I must be wrong, Mulder, tell me that it wasn't Bill, please God, please tell me that this whole thing has nothing to do with Bill, Mulder?" He could her desperation in her voice, and he wish to God he could deny it and ease that look away from her face. But he wouldn't, and she knew that, knew that he would never lie to her. With a deep breath he said "Scully, I'm so sorry, I am so, so sorry." Kneeling down he put his head against the frame of her bed, as if her pain was his, and it was. "It was him?! It's always been him, he has been apart of this the whole time?! My brother? Bill? But, why, it just, it.. why, Mulder, I don't understand.. I, don't want to believe it." A single tear fell down, as her eyes closed, she tried to close out the horror of this truth, he body shook with it, she felt sick. She could feel Mulders hand on her face, and when she opened her eyes, she saw him. Tears in his own eyes and she noticed the blood on his shirt, and she remembered how it happened. They were at a warehouse, investigating a tip they anonymously received; it was a breakthrough in the ongoing case they had that linked the government conspiracies along with her own abduction, cancer, and her sister's death. She found evidence that could bring some closure to some ongoing issues, but before she could do anything about it, she saw Bill, holding a gun to her. He wanted the evidence, but I didn't believe any of what he was saying, he said that he didn't want to shoot me but he would, that it would be best just to hand over the evidence. Behind her she could hear Mulder. And before she knew what was happening Bill fired once, and she hit the ground, another shot was fired and then darkness. "I don't know what to say Mulder." Mulder held her hand and brought it up to his lips and kissed her fingers. "You don't have to say anything, just get some rest, okay, we can talk about Bill later, but you need to get some rest. " "Where are you going?" "Absolutely no where, I'm not leaving you." "But Mulder, you need some rest too, I'll be fine. I've been through much worse then this, remember?" her first attempt at a smile, and it was for him. He knew that, and he loved her all the more for it. "Ok, you win." He brushed a strand of hair off her forehead, and she closed her eyes. He stood there for awhile, and when he saw that she was asleep, he sat right back down in the chair, and held her hand. The End
