~Vineyard Visit~

Special Agent Dana Scully walked into the basement office, home
of the x-files, which she shared with her partner Fox Mulder. She
turned on the light only to realize that Mulder wasn't there. It
didn't surprise her, however, because the AD Skinner had called her
this morning to inform her that Mulder wouldn't show up for work
because his mother had passed away. Any other time she would have
rushed to see him, but she felt that he needed some time by himself
for this.
Scully was surprised when, and hour later, Mulder walked through
the office door. "Hi, Scully." He said calmly. Scully could tell
that he was hiding how he really felt. "Mulder, I'm sorry about your
mother. Skinner told me you would be taking some time." Mulder just
shrugged, "Well, I need my work. Plus, she was a bitch to me, just
like my father. Maybe I won't even go to the funeral." "Mulder, no.
You loved her, don't lie to yourself. She was your only support when
you were a kid." Mulder lowered his head and his lip began to quiver.
He couldn't hold it inside, he did love her and he didn't want to
believe she was gone. He started crying, he looked up at Scully with
tears streaming down his face. Scully saw this and held out her arms
to him. He gratefully walked into her embrace and cried terrible,
racking sobs.
After about 5 minutes he was able to calm down and speak,
"Scully, I loved her and trusted her. Now you're the only one I have
left." "Mulder, it's okay. I will always be here for you and with
you." She said into his hair as she held his head and kissed his
forehead. "Scully, will you come with me to my mother's funeral in
Chilmark? I don't want to go alone." He asked. "Of course I will,
Mulder." She kissed his cheek and then they went back to their work.
"Scully, since its Friday we can make a week out of the trip. We
can leave for Cape Cod early tomorrow morning and spend a night there.
Then we can catch a ferry over to the Vineyard the next morning. That
gives us a day to site-se and then the funeral the next day. Then, if
you want, we can stay a day or two more." Mulder said before they got
ready to leave work. "Sounds like you've been planning this all day,
Mulder. It sounds fun. Hey, why don't you come spend the night at my
house tonight that way we don't have to commute back and forth."
Scully said. "Sure, I'll go home, pack, pick up some food and tapes,
and then we can leave from your place. I'll see you in 2 hours, okay?"
Mulder said. "Alright, see you then." They both left the office to
go pack for their first non-business related trip together.
They stayed up late talking, watching movies, eating pizza, and
drinking wine that night so they ended up leaving around 8:30. They
made it to the campgrounds in Cape Cod around 12:00. Mulder had
gotten lost on the way there and despite the male stereotype, Mulder
stopped and asked for directions. When he got back in the car he
looked over at Scully who was looking at him amazedly. "I can't
believe it. You are the first man I have ever driven with who has
stopped and asked for directions. I'm impressed." Scully said. "Well,
I'm not like most men you meet." Mulder said as he leaned close to her
and spoke in a low seductive voice that made her stomach knot and her
face blush. "I know, Mulder, you are different." She said ruffling
his hair. She loved doing that it was so soft and fluffy. "You are
ver rare, a one-of-a-kind, and I love you for it." She kissed his
cheek and he just sat there stunned. "Scully, I love you." He said.
"I know, Mulder, and I love you too." They continued their trip.
The only problem with taking a trip on short notice was that no
reservations were made. They reached the campground they were going
to stay at and the person said that all they had left available was a
2 person tent. Mulder looked at Scully and then accepted the
accommodations. It would be a tight fit, but with their loved
realized they should be fine.
They tried to crawl into their sleeping bags that night but found
there wasn't enough room because Mulder's bag took up too much room.
"Alright, get out." Scully said. "You're not gonna make me sleep in
the car are you?" Mulder asked seriously. "No of course not, silly.
I'm going to unzip my bag all the way, lay it on the floor and then
unzip yours and we can share it as a blanket." Scully explained. "Oh.
Okay." Mulder said.
Half way through the night, a storm occurred and the rain began
leaking through the thin tent. Mulder woke up and pulled Scully close
to him so that his body was mostly covering hers.
The next morning Scully woke up dry and Mulder was soaked to the
bone. "Mulder what happened?" She asked. "It rained last night, I
didn't want you to get wet, so I covered you the best I could with my
body." Mulder said truthfully. "Thank you, Mulder, that was an
above-and-beyond-the-call-of-duty act." Scully said hugging him.
"Ready to hit the Ferry, Shorts?" Mulder had come up with the nickname
all by himself one day and he loved it. "You bet. Lets go!" Scully
said.
Once their car was parked on the ferry, they proceeded to the
upper deck area. Scully loved the ocean so she insisted that they
stayed at the very bow of the boat. "Scully, you can't see anything.
Its 7:30 in the morning and too foggy." Mulder complained. "So what.
Come stand up here now." She told him. Mulder obeyed and joined her
at the bow. He wrapped an arm around her waist and then he felt her
shiver. "Scully, are you cold?" He asked. "No? well, yes, I am very
chilly." She replied snuggling closer to him. "Here, Scully, put this
on." Mulder said as he handed her his leather jacket. "Are you sure,
Mulder?" He nodded. "Thank you." She said as he wrapped both his
arms around her and she snuggled into the warmth of his chest.
When they reached the Vineyard, they took their car and drove to
the next campsite. This time a cabin was available with bunk beds and
two rooms. Under other circumstances they would have opted for a room
each, but they were enjoying being together so they took the double
wide bottom bunk and shared it. They planned on just vegging out for
the rest of the day and veg they did. Mulder fell asleep on the bed
and Scully laid with her head on his stomach, watching him sleep. He
was so handsome, especially when he slept and when he had his glasses
on. She truly loved this man and loved waking up next to him.
They woke up the next morning and got ready for the funeral.
They drove to the cemetery, which was close by. Not many people were
there: just her son, a few friends, and some other relatives. After
the funeral was over Mulder stood and cried by his mother's grave.
Scully comforted him the best she could. Later Mulder met up with
some friends that had come to the funeral and made plans to meet for
dinner the next night.
Mulder and Scully rented a couple bikes and pedaled around the
island for the remainder of the day. They stopped at Mulder's old
house and their summer home. When they got tired they headed back to
the cabin to eat and go to sleep.
The next morning Mulder allowed Scully to drag him around town to
shop. They were getting ready for dinner when Scully got sick. She
had a terrible stomachache and stayed in bed. "Mulder, you go have
dinner with your friends. I'll be fine here." Scully said exhaustedly.
"No, I already called the guys up and told them that my Dana was sick
and that I didn't want to leave her." Mulder said. "Your Dana, huh?"
Scully said. "Yep, you're mine and no one else can have you. You are
my Scully and now you're my Dana." He explained. "Well, that is
certainly sweet. So that makes you my Fox?" Dana asked. "Yep, I'm all
yours. Do with me what you please." "Really? That could be
interesting." Scully said. "Hey, Shorts, you're sick remember? You
need to rest." Mulder said. "But my stomach really hurts." Scully
whined. "I'll do what my mom used to do when we had stomachaches."
Mulder said as he pushed her shirt up to just below her chest. He
began gently rubbing his hand over her stomach in slow circles. He
moved a few strands of hair away from her face and left his hand on
her hair as he rubbed her stomach. He whispered sweet nothings to her
and she soon fell asleep.
When she woke up Mulder had wrapped his arms around her stomach
protectively. Scully shifted around to get more comfortable, but
Mulder tightened his grip. "Mulder, honey, I can't breathe." She said
to him. "Hmm? What?" He asked sleepily. "Hey, wait. Did you call me
honey?" He said more awake. "Yes. Yes, I did call you that, why?"
Scully asked turning around in his arms to face him. "I don't like
mushy nicknames." He said, "At least not until marriage." "So, you're
already planning to marry me?" Scully asked. "No, I said 'until
marriage' I didn't specify a person? but, uh, I was kind of hoping
that you would be the one I was marrying." Mulder said shyly. "Oh.
Well, we'll just have to see about that, Fox." Scully said snuggling
into his chest. He gladly accepted her snuggling and put his head
atop of hers and drew lazy circles over her back with his hands. They
soon fell back asleep.
When they woke up again it was about 12:00 in the afternoon.
They decided to eat and then go to the beach. There were tons of
people at the beach so they walked along the water hand in hand until
they came upon a clear spot. They set up their blanket and they
proceeded to put on suntan lotion. "Hey, Mulder, could you put some
of this on my back, please?" She asked him as she turned her back
towards him. "Gladly." He said taking some of the lotion and rubbing
it gently onto her back. When he was finished he began a slow massage
on her shoulders. "Mmm. That feels really nice." She said leaning
into his hands. When he stopped, he asked her if she would apply the
lotion to his back. She also gladly accepted and rubbed the lotion
gently into his back. She loved to feel his back muscles twitch under
her touch; swimmers muscles. He was so strong yet so fragile on the
inside.
When she finished rubbing the lotion in she turned him around to
face her. She put some of the white lotion onto his nose so it wasn't
completely rubbed in. "There, now you look like a lifeguard. Kind of
like those guys from "Baywatch". Um, David Cokacheeko or something
like that." He rubbed the lotion in and then caught her gaze. For
what seemed like an eternity they held that gaze and then Mulder
leaned into to her. Scully felt his breath on her lips as he came
toward her and closed her eyes. His lips landed on hers and he kissed
with gentleness and passion, and Scully responded the same way. When
they broke the kiss, the laid face down on the blanket. Mulder scooted
over towards her and draped an arm over her shoulders as they lay there.
They spent most of the day at the beach getting a very nice tan
and then left for dinner. Scully treated Mulder to a wonderful
seafood dinner at a nice restaurant in thanks of him for the trip.
They headed to the beach again after dinner to sit on the rocks and
watch the sun set. Mulder put his arm around her and held her close
as the day came to a close.
They left early the next morning to catch the ferry back to the
Cape. Once they reached the mainland, they stopped for breakfast and
then began their trip back home. The first few hours were silent
because Scully had leaned against Mulder's shoulder and had fallen
asleep. Mulder kept one arm around her while he drove. Thank God
that the car wasn't a standard. He loved holding her, she just felt
so right in his arms. It was as if she belonged there. At every stop
that he came to, he would steal glances at her just to look at her and
to see just how beautiful she was.  He would never want to change her;
she was perfect the way she was.
They made it back to Scully's place around 7:00 that night.
Mulder was extremely wiped out from driving so Scully allowed him to
sleep over at her apartment. Although, this time he wouldn't be
sleeping on the couch. "Mulder, come sleep in my bed with me." She
said to him as he began pulling out pillows and a blanket for the
couch. "Why, Agent Scully, are you coming on to me?" Mulder asked.
"I think I've already come on to you, but if you're thinking you're
gonna get lucky, then think again Mister. I'm not ready to take our
new relationship to that level yet. But I don't want you to sleep on
the couch after sharing a bed for you with the past 4-5 nights. I want
you by my side, I want to see your face when I wake up in the
morning." Scully said lovingly. Mulder couldn't pass up her offer or
was it more of a demand?
As Mulder lay shirtless in the bed, holding Scully close to him
he asked, "Dana, what happens when after tonight we go back to work
and back to our own apartments? Will you still love me, even if I
can't be with you? Will work be any different? Will we be able to
spend more days and nights like this?" He asked gesturing to both of
them. "Whoa, too many questions, Fox. Okay, yes, I will still love
you even if I can't be with you every minute of the day. Yes, work
will be different, but we'll find away to continue working seriously
even if it means telling Skinner the truth about us. And I am truly
hoping that we can spend many more days and nights like this together.
But my question is, will you still love me no mater what?" Dana
responded. "Yes, I will love you till the day I die." Mulder
truthfully answered.
There was a long pause and then, "Dana, remember when I said that
I was hoping that you would be the one I was marrying?" Mulder asked
quietly. "Yeah, I remember." Dana responded turning on her side to
face him. "Well, would you? I mean? Dana Scully, will you marry me?"
Fox asked as he looked deep into her eyes. "Yes, I would love to
marry you Fox Mulder. But only if you move into my apartment so that
we can spend all our days and nights together like this." Dana said.
"It's a done deal, how about we start packing up my stuff tomorrow?"
Fox said enthusiastically. "Fox, hon, we have to work tomorrow." Dana
said snuggling in closer to him with the thought of ever having to
leave his side.
"No, we don't. When I told Skinner we were going to my mom's
funeral he gave us the whole week off, no questions asked. So we have
all tomorrow to due? whatever? or to just spend together." He said.
"Well, Fox, if we do? whatever? I have a feeling we would be spending
it together anyway, so why don't we spend the day together packing up
your stuff and bringing it over here. Then if we have some time left
over, we can do? whatever? okay?" "Sounds, good. I work best under
pressure." Fox said as he pulled her close and settled in to go to
sleep. "Is there a double meaning there?" Dana asked following him to
dream land. "Shorts, what's it like to have your head in the gutter
all the time?" Fox asked, his voice muffled by his pillow. "It's
interesting, but you should know best, your whole body is in the
gutter." Dana said facing him again. "Ouch, that hurt. I think you
have damaged my ego." He said in mock pain. "Well, with your ego, I
doubt that I even bruised it." She counter-acted. "Well, you
certainly are being a smart-aleck tonight. If you keep this up, you
may really damage my ego." He said. "I learn from the best. You, Fox,
you are the best." She replied as she leaned in to kiss him, and
ruffle his hair.
They settled in to go to sleep and dream about their coming
wedding. Who would come, what to wear, colors, and best of all, the
honeymoon. Yep, they would both have good dreams tonight.
