<<Evidently this one didn't post -- sorry, folks! But since it's a poem
rather than a story, there's no plot you need to have read before Marriage
Two and Marriage Three. This is the first poem I've ever posted, so I'm
kind of nervous. . . .>>

Marriage One: "Waking"
by Juliettt@aol.com (August 9, 1995)

This poem is a sequel to "Wonders Wrought" and is set the morning
after the events in that story. It begins my series of Marriage stories
(don't worry; the rest will be in prose!).

If you haven't read "Epithalamion" and "Wonders Wrought," you
should do so (in that order) before reading this or any of the marriage
stories.

I wrote this for Dana and Fox, but they are never mentioned by name
in it, so CC and Co. don't get a disclaimer this time! However, this
poem belongs to me; should you, for some reason which right now
I cannot fathom, wish to distribute or copy it in any way, please ask
me first.

"Waking"
by Juliettt@aol.com
**************************

I waken slowly, slowly with the sun
Upon my back, as warm as a caress,
And lie here, naked, and I bless
The warmth that makes the sun and loving one.

Beneath me still, and still, still yet you sleep.
I watch the shadows move across your face,
The golden light that blesses our embrace,
And pray your rest is dreamless, soft, and deep.

And I remember in the bright of day
That will not let me hide me from myself
The way I took you and you gave yourself
And took me as I gave myself away.

The darkness lingers in my thoughts and mind,
The warm and velvet black of last night's night.
I saw you, 'ere you faded from my sight,
And felt you with my heart when eyes were blind.

The sweetness of the first time in your arms,
The fires of wonder racing on our skin,
The awe, at last, of feeling you within,
And finally of being safe, and warm

Beneath the aegis of my love for you
And yours for me. Here, here at last I rest,
My head upon our heart. And in my breast
Where my heart once beat, there is our heart, too.
