Title: What a Tiny Creek Can Do... (1/1)

Author: Maya-Rachell Banks

Rating: Although I'm for free speech anywhere, its G. Pretty safe.

Classification: I have no idea!

Disclaimer: I don't own Dana Scully, or Mulder, you know who do. Although
I did steal these other peoples' names, and looks I don't *really* think
they'll care.

Summary: The title says it all.

E-mail: Please, oh PLEASE send me feedback or anything, I'm desperate
here!

Note: I came up with this tonight. I'm not sure how either. Was it too
much iced tea? Too much candy? The medication? Too much time on my hands?
Personally, I think its all of the above (:o)

<Another one! Another bizarre trip out in the middle-of- nowhere!
Maybe he just likes being out in here> Dana thought. She had just had a
fight with Mulder again, for the fifth time this week. And was walking
down the small street that the suspect they had just interrogated lived.

She was beginning to wonder if all this was worth it. She began
wondering if all the lives wasted were just to try to pacifier the truth.
To suppress it. But she didn't really care about the truth anymore. She
decided that maybe, after all they went through, that maybe the truth
wasn't ‘out there'. That the truth was just a well-kept lie.

And this lie was killing people, hurting them in ways not
possible. Twisting their minds, bodies, and souls to a breaking point.
Someone had to give in....

She came to a bigger road that turned off the Walkers' tiny
street. She decided to walk towards a small bridge. It was so peaceful,
and barely a sound. Just the laughs and gleeful screams of kids from the
next street.

She sighed. The thought of her never having kids. The
thought......it hurt her, like someone twisting a knife in her stomach.
Not that she had thought of having kids seriously, yet. That part of her
life, her getting married, "settling down", not only seemed distant. But
it always kinda frightened her. She never really liked being taken care
of. Its just that, like they say, you never know how much you'll miss
something until its gone...

Water. Oh thank God, water. She looked over the bridge to see a
tiny creek. A small grin crossed her face. Everything here was small, the
houses, the streets, the kids...

What a place to live. The Southern back country. Like some people
she knew the accent never bothered her, she rather enjoyed it. They talk
slow, and like to live slow. What a life...
Her thoughts drifted as she walked down around the bridge to the water.
She had to touch it.
The gentle breeze blew through her hair. Another sigh came to her. Her
mind slowly cleared as she ran her fingers on the surface of the cool
stream.

As a tear fell into the water from her cheek she heard a giggle.
She turned her head to see who it was. There were two teenagers on the
other side of the bridge. But they hadn't even noticed Dana. The girl was
pushing the guy over and laughing. He landed a couple of feet away, and he
just looked at the girl with wide eyes, and then started tickling her.

"Stop it! Stephen Adrian Woods, stop it now!"

"Okay, Katherine Danielle Brewer, okay." He backed off,
snickering. He had green eyes with blonde hair. Dana backed up so they
didn't see her. She thought the girl looked familiar, but she couldn't
remember from where she had seen her before. The girl had red, curly hair,
and brown eyes. <Ohmigosh!> Dana thought, she kinda looks like me and
Melissa when we were younger, but the girl had Mulder's eyes. They were
deep and smiling, but they had a bit of hurt in them. She guessed they
always had that hurt look in them.

Dana started to get the idea that, the girl could almost be a
cross between her and Mulder. As if the idea hadn't hit her before. The
girl's name was even Katherine, hmm...
Dana was about to stand up and leave, when a hand came on her shoulder.
She knew who it was immediately.

"What ya watching?" he asked softly.

Scully just pointed, and Mulder looked over. He looked back at
Scully with those eyes, they had an emotion Scully had never seen in them
before. She couldn't quite place it. Surprise? Happiness? Content?
Understanding? Pity? She couldn't get it, but before she thought anymore
about it. She just nodded involuntarily, and they stood up and left.
Without a word.

The End

Can you believe that only took me 5 minutes to write?
