In the course of the past six years, they've lost everything - and more - several times over. Daughters, fathers, sisters, each other.... The list is endless. So why ? Why do they go on ? If they were to quit the bureau, neither would have any problem finding other jobs. She's a damn good doctor and he's a fucking genius ! I mean, there's got to be something that keeps them going. But what ? They've lost absolutely totally everything, man. There is nothing left. His hopes of finding his sister ? Gone. Her dreams of having a family ? Gone, too. Justice for all the shit that's happened ? Revenge ? There aren't enough nuclear bombs yet. And anyway, the bastards responsible for all the mess will all die from old age before anyone has to lift a finger. Except for Krycek, but he's got a different death warrant signed for him : Scully promised him that if ever she found him anywhere near her again, she'd use her extensive knowledge of 'secret doctor things' to make him into a vegetable.
