Summary: Continuation of the conversation at the end of Je Souhaite, when Scully asks Mulder what his final wish was. All written in dialogue form Disclaimers: Mulder, Scully and company not mind, just enjoying them Notes: This kinda flowed out tonight, after watching a tape of this episode. It has go to be one of my favs of all time, and I thought it could use a little more of an ending that Frank gave it. S: Come on Mulder, what was your last wish? M: M: M: What would you wish for Scully? S: You're avoiding my question. M: Yes, yes I am. Now tell me your wishes. S: Okay, I'll give it a try. Three, right? M: Three S: Well, for my first wish, I'd wanta be taller. Say 5'7". M: Ah, Scully, then I couldn't fit your perfect little head under my chin. I don't like that wish. Pick another. S: S: S: Okay...I'd wish that I had a house on the beach, with miles of my own private ocean, just for me. M: Could I come visit? S: No. M: No? But..but... S: You'd live there too. M: What!? S: You know that I can't leave you by yourself. You get into way too much trouble. M: Oh? That the only reason? S: The only one you're gonna hear. M: 'Kay, what's your second wish? S: Hey, I want the first wish! M: No. S: No? M No. S: Fine! M: Second wish? S: A baby. I want to be able to have a baby. M: Ah, Scully... S: Aren't wishes supposed to work better if they are unselfish? What's more selfless that raising a beautiful, dark-haired, blue-eyed little girl, that will have her mother's looks and her daddy's brain's? M: Dark-haired? S: Yep, dark-hair, stubborn... M: Who'd she get that from? S: Both, I think. M: Smooth Scully, smooth. S: Thank you very much. M: You've got one more wish Scully. S: I'll make you a deal Mulder. M: Deal, huh? What are wanting to deal with? S: You tell me you're last wish. I'll tell you mind. M: Huh, sounds interesting. Will it be worth it? S: Definitely M: Definitely? S: Yeah M: Okay I'll bite. What's your wish? S: No way! You go first. M: Hey! You think I'm goin' cheat? S: Yes. M: Scully, I'm wounded. S: Sorry, Mulder. I've lived and learned. M: Okay, point taken. I gave the genie her freedom. There happy now? S: That's very chivalrous of you. Why did you do that? M: Something she said. S: Which was... M: How she wished she had never heard the word wish before. How she wanted to live her life, moment by moment, enjoying it for what it is, instead of what it isn't. Her wish was only to live a normal live. S: Not very complicated was she? M: No, actually I think she had it all figured out. She wanted to just watch the world go by. No grand illusions that she could change anything or anybody. S: Didn't leave any room for success, did she? M: Maybe, Maybe not. S: Whata mean? M: What defines success? Money? Power? Control? S: To some degree, yes. M: And at what price would we pay to gain those things? S: I see your point M: You do? Scully has someone swapped your brain for someone else's? S: No silly, I just seem to have a little more perspective tonight. M: Perspective? I'd say you're getting downright philosophical on me. S: Nah, just content. Can't I be content Mulder? M: Huh, hmm...sure Scully. Content's good. Does that contentment cause you to act so ...hmmm...irrational? S: I;m acting irrational? M: Well, maybe more unexpected than irrational. S: And just why do you think that? M: Your head on my shoulder...your hand...well, you get my drift. S: No Mulder, no I think you're imaging things. M: Scu...SCully...last wish. You...you...pro...promised. S: I did, didn't I? M: Y...yes...you...you did. S: And a promise is a promise, right? M: R...Right S: Okay, last wish Mulder M: Last wish Scully S: I think...hmm..think I don't , don't need...need to make it. M: Why...what...why's; why's that? S: Because you shouldn't wish for something you already have. the end
