DISCLAIMER: If they were mine you'd be seeing this on tv. I do not own Amy Grant or her songs either. They just happened to be my inspiration. *** You're the kind That I want to be with in the dark and You're the kind who is capturing my heart And I'm the lucky one Each touch is frozen in time I can feel your heart And the rhythm of it echoes through my soul Well surely you know Whatever it takes baby I'm gonna be there Whatever it takes baby you've got to know Whatever it takes to be true to you Baby I'll do it somehow -Amy Grant- "Lucky One" "Whatever It Takes" *** "Scully, can you talk to me? Scully please." I could hear the desperation entering his voice. It felt as thought an outside force had taken control of my body. I couldn't stop shivering and the tears wouldn't stop coming. Mulder's had rubbed gentle circles on my back. The longer I took to answer him the more shallow and rapid his breathing became as his chest rose and fell under me. "Mul-der." "Scully. What's wrong?" "D...d...don't know. C...c...can't st...op. S.. so cold. Help me." If it was possible he drew me even closer. With a tiny sigh he spoke, "Do you know where we are?" "No." I could hardly remember my own name much less where I was. Was it something to do with a case? A warehouse...floorboards... "We're under the floor." "Watch out ghosts here we come." I groaned in response to that. "Are you OK?" he asked instantly worried. "I..." I started to tell him I was fine. Always fine. Something had to change. "No, not really." "Do you hurt anywhere?" That was a loaded question. I could hear under it, "Did someone hurt you?" "I don't think so." "You're not shivering as much." "No, I'm not. Thank you." His chuckle rumbled up from his stomach, "How could you thank me..." My fingers covered his mouth, "Don't Mulder. Let's just concentrate on getting out of here alive." "Scully, I don't give a damn what they did to me. But I want to know why you came in here shaking so badly you could hardly talk." "Were we really apart for that long? It seems like one minute I was in this light. And the next here with you." His resumed the back rub, "Bet you never thought we'd get this close." This was not the time to be having this conversation. Not when I was lying on my partner with no clothes to speak of. You know... for some reason I never realized how good he smelled... I gasped as his hand slid a little farther up my side. He chuckled again, "Don't worry, Scully. I'm not going to take advantage of you." "I know, Mulder. I'm... I don't know." I didn't want to move. He felt so good. Why was I even thinking about this? They must have drugged us up. "Hey, Scully, I know." I tensed. If he chuckled one more time I would be forced to do something I might not regret later. That almost sent me off into laughter. "I don't mind so much being here with you, Mulder. I'd just kind of like to know why this pleasant surprise was suddenly dropped on us." "You mean on me?" "Mulder." A sudden fit of shivers washed over me. He sighed into my hair and I knew he would have sweat blood for a sleeping bag. I wished I could just melt into him. "Everything's going to be OK, Scully. We're going to get out of this." It was then that the air started to be sucked out of our space. After one last gasp for air the top was lifted up and a light engulfed us. Author's Notes: Thank you to all those who wrote to me and told me to get off my butt and finish this. This is the second in I'm not sure how many! Thought I promise the third is well under way and shouldn't be too long in coming to a mailing list near you. But I'd still love to hear any comments and ideas. Also thanks to Mareena who did a little prompting of her own.
