Keywords: artificial insemination The scene opens with Scully on her couch writing in her journal. 'Words that are so easily spoken shouldn't have the effect they do. One muttered word can alter a life so severely that the difference is like day and night. That's how I felt today Mulder. That one word was "yes" and it gave me the hope that I might have children. I floated on a cloud for days and then the importance of our decision came crashing down on me. 'What if it doesn't work? What then?' I think you understood what I was thinking. You told me to be patient. So I did, just for you. The day came quickly after that and you were there to catch me. I think that is the day I fell totally in love with you. Don't get me wrong, I have loved you for a long time, but this was when I realized I was *in* love with you. The red-head pauses and bites the end of her pen. Her sky blue eyes are focused far away. Her head tips down again and she continues writing. You'll probably notice that at the end of every one of these entries I've written 'Love Scully.' Well this time it's going to be different. I can finally write this but it will probably take me awhile to tell you. Forgive me for this but I need to do it when the time is right. Mulder, I love you. Until next time my love. Truthfully yours, Scully' The pen and book slide gently down to Scully's lap. A gentle tear rolls down her face as she nears the end, she lies down leaving the open book on her lap. Her hands slide up to cover her belly and more tears slide down the sides of her face. Her eyes close and after awhile her breathing slows. She has fallen asleep. The dark-haired man arrives in front of her door. He raises his hand to knock but decided to use his key. Gentl inserting the cold metal, he unlocks the door and quickly steps inside. After relocking the door he turns around to find a beautiful sight. Soft yellow light reflects off her red hair. Her face is peaceful, relaxed as a child is during their slumber. Mulder slips his shoes from his feet and quietly walks toward his Sleeping Beauty. Upon reaching her side, he sits down on the wooden coffee table. For the first time he notices the book balancing carefully on her legs. He goes to remove it but sees his name in her distinct hand writing. He knows he shouldn't read it but "I love you" are the next words his eyes encounter. His eyes scan those three words over and over until he thinks he could write every curve of those letters by heart. He finally glances at her face. Like a child...a child she cannot have. Mulder's eyes mist over and his hand comes toward her face. He longs to touch her, but does not want to disturb her. Instead he gently removes the book and pen from her lap only receiving a small sigh in return. Staring at her face again he notices the tear tracks. "Oh Scully..." he breathes. He stands and bends down to bring her up into his arms. "Mulder?" "It's okay...going to bed." Her head nods up and down against his chest as she snuggles closer. He takes her down the hallway and into her room. EVerything is in perfect order except for a small stuffed bear lying on the floor. Before going to the bed he glances down to read the tag. "Good Luck Dana" with no signature attached. Stepping over the blue animal he brings her to the bed and lies her down. "Mulder?" She grabs ahold of his arm. "What Scully?" He whispers while brushing some hair away from her eyes. "Don't leave me." She says before a sob breaks through her red lips. "Oh honey, I won't leave you." He neels down and then crawls over her to the other side of the bed before tucking her against him. They hold each other while she cries. When her tears stop and all that remains are a few hiccups she opens her eyes to look across the plane of his chest. She swallows her nervousness and opens her mouth slightly. "I love you." She whispers. A small silence fills the room until he answers her. "I love you too." A sigh escapes her body before her eyes clothes into a dreamless sleep. The End Any feedback?
